Question Help Needed - Oil Filter housing lower assembly.

Hi guys,

I need some help and advise on the lower assembly oil filter housing on a N54 335i 2007.

I've had my oil filter housing gaskets replaced by BMW a few months ago, however now I've noticed a new leak and after taking off the air duct connected to the air box I found the lower part (two oil lines?) that connect to the bottom of the oil filter housing are not fully screwed on, there's a large gap and i can see oil leaking out of this area.

From the image there is a single 13mm screw holding this together to the bottom oil housing, as you can see it's not in all the way.

How should I go about re-tightening these?
Is it a simple tighten the bottom bolt or do I need to loosen the top mounted bolts then re-tighten the bottom?

Thanks in advance!

Take that single bolt out completely, replace the o-ring gaskets that are on each line, then tighten it back up. Should fix your leak.

Will I loose any oil once disconnected? Is it under pressure when engine is off? Do you know the part number for them? Thanks
Found the parts: http://www.estore-central.com/bmw-pa...l-Cooler-Line/

I spoke to the manager that I've dealt with and here is their written response below.

Hi

I have had the technical team review the picture and repair process, the unit is not removed it is just moved out of the way as on flexible hoses. Attached are the gaskets we did replace but do feel free to come past and we can look at the leak to see if is it just a matter of tightening up or do the o rings require replacement.

Best regards

Honestly they should have replaced it, this is a 5 minute job to replace only those orings, or an extra 2 minutes when replacing the ofhg and tstat gasket. It's one bolt, easily accessible. I would bitch about it and say they should know that the onrings are part of the complete job, and only take an extra 2 minutes, to avoid customers coming back so soon with issues.
