Downpipes revisited

I was about to purchase the n54Tuning 3" catless downpipe v2 this weekend, but then noticed that vsrf also has a 3" catless downpipe v2. I know that the n54Tuning v2 is slightly better than the original bms downpipes (n54Tuning v1). Anyone install either?

They are priced the same. Which is better quality of construction? Better flow? Sound difference?

Thanks.

Makes absolutely no difference which one you choose. Pick the shop/guy you like better

I have the VRSF and love them, but, there isn't much difference in these side by side, including performance wise. Both excellent choices. Tiago@VRSF & Mike@N54Tuning are great guys to deal with too.

You won't notice any performance difference between the two downpipes. I would choose the vendor that gives you the better deal. You might want to check the private sale section for used or sometimes new downpipes for a good price.

Thanks for the kind words guys. We've worked hard on the latest V2 downpipes and I'm proud of how successful our customers have been with the latest revision. The V2's offer more clearance than any current offering and a cast inlet which not only makes the install process a breeze but offers the smoothest transition from turbo to pipe available on the market.

We've sold a bit over 800 V2 downpipes so far this year and we've had nothing but rave reviews due to a few corrections we've made in our manufacturing process including the use of our cast flange/pipe transition which eliminates most fitment issues and offers the smoothest transition from turbo to downpipe.

The fact that we've been selling exhaust products on this platform longer than most has also allowed us to develop a more streamlined manufacturing process than the small shops that make one offs or small batch parts. We order 300 of these at a time and each part is checked on multiple jigs before they're boxed. They are then checked again on 3 different jigs locally which make sure everything from relative flange angles to o2 sensor location is within an acceptable tolerance (less than 1/16th"/1.5mm for the o2 sensors). The ones that pass get boxed up, the ones that don't get scrapped.

This extensive process eliminates misfits, increased labor rates and headaches which we've had to deal with in the past and have learned from with our V1 pipes.

The above was posted a couple weeks ago in a similar thread and here's a few review/comparison threads from the past few months I found during a quick search.

I have helped friends install both and I have the N54tuning DPs myself. Power wise there is really no difference but fit and finish the N54tuning pipes are better imo. Mike at N54tuning is great to work with as well.

VRSF all the way. They stand by their work and make a quality product. Plus lifetime warranty on the DP's and fitment? Done and done.

If I were buying new DP's now, I would go with the VRSF V2's. I've heard nothing but great things about Tiago and his parts.

I went with n54Tuning v2 downpipes just because I had talked to Mike the most and I believe they are in the west coast, so closer to San Francisco.

Mike offered incredible customer service. I'm glad to have chosen his product.

Mike responded to my emails within minutes and helped me troubleshoot issues I was having with the first shop's installation. The first shop I took to install the downpipes did not know what they were doing and Mike tried to help me out by calling the shop directly. After the first shop poorly aligned the downpipes resulting in the downpipes touching the subframe and causing steering and chassis vibration, not installing the new gaskets that came with the n54Tuning downpipes, and not properly tightening the V-bands I went to a more reputable shop. This second shop had no issues getting the alignment of the downpipes and fitment perfect. Vibration and turbo leak were gone and downpipe sounds great.

The quality of the n54Tuning v2 downpipes looks great to me and the fitment looks great (after proper installation by the second shop). I doubt there is any difference between VRSF v2 and n54Tuning v2 in price, quality, or fitment. I would stick to the person who you talk to most or is closest to you geographically.

Also shout out to FFTech in Hayward, CA for properly installing the downpipes.

For what its worth i installed another set of the vrsf V2 dp's this weekend and as much as i hate to say it fitment is perfect. As i have given them a bad review in the past with the v1's and detailed their poor fitment . I have to give them props a SECOND time for the v2's . I ultimately went with another brand some time ago but i can say if your concerned about buying these don't be and this comes from someone who has installed / uninstalled probably 15 sets of dp's i can truly say these new v2's fit better than any brand i have installed.

nice job on the revision Tiago !

Great to hear, thanks for keeping us updated. If it weren't for the feedback from experienced installers like yourself we wouldn't have been able to improve upon the design
