I've received rear-view camera from bimmerretrofit as a gift but the description for it states that it requires little checkmark on the navigation screen (indicates that installed software is 2011 and up). Idon't have that checkmark and software version in menu dated 2009. Looking for someone local that have proper equipment and is experienced in such procedure for E series.

Sounds like your CIC needs a firmware update, which is risky business as these headunits commonly fail during updates.

If you can't find someone locally bring it to the dealer for update is safest method.

That is correct, mitza insane updated my cic. Thanks again! If anyone needs their stuff to get updated I would highly recommend him. I did install the camera already and it is pretty decent. I had issue with trunk lid handle camera module. It didn't really fit e91, I've had to cut a piece of plastic from the switch because it was rubbing on metal behind the trunk badge and the handle would not sit flush. I'm not sure if it's because e90 has different spacing in that area or there was a mistake during packaging from bimmer retrofit.
