Questin about activating NAV in CIC.

I just did a CCC to CIC swap.

New CIC is firmware C10. Came from a 2011 car.

I've updated the aif_schreiben argument in the CICR, CICR_GW and CICR_HD files in tool 32.

I've also changed the build date in the FA to #0909 in the CAS and NFRM. My car originally had the $609 option and I've also added the $6VA as well.

I've checked the CICR file in tool32 and the CIC VIN has been updated to my VIN.

My glovebox USB works as does the Bluetooth for the phone. Even switched from TPMS to FTM (06') no issues.

At this point my Navigation is grayed out.

What needs to happen next to activate the NAV. Days of searching here and on Google I have yet to find a topic that addresses this clearly.

Pretty much everything I can find at this time requires C1a firmware and NAV to be activated.

I realize my firmware needs to be updated but my question remains. What does it take to activate NAV? That seems to be the missing link in this chain.

Thanks.

This I agree with. The other options are to use an emulator to activate the Nav.

Thanks for the replies.

For clarification, would I need to be on C1a firmware for this method to work?

If so then I know the next step I need to take.

Yes. Make sure you actually read CIC properly to check what version you actually have. Simply Processing the ecu will not tell you anything till you read it. Process ecu>CIC>Read ecu

Just wanted to clarify.

I know I'm replying to an old thread here, but I'm stuck with a similar situation. All the tutorials for navigation activation say "it's easy!" but that's ONLY IF YOU HAVE CIC FIRMWARE VERSION C1A. Anything older than C1A and the patcher doesn't work!!! Fine.. Except updating to C1A requires an ICOM which are either not available, or if they are they are not cheap. For significantly less than the cost of buying an ICOM or paying someone else who has one to update your CIC, you can just buy an Apple CarPlay or Android Auto interface to display on your CIC screen, which is far better than whatever the latest BMW CIC maps are.
