Yes, they will. I have very similar glasses. The width will be fine and the sunglass tray is a lot deeper than the ashtray (since it has no part that need to be taken out for cleaning), so the glasses will fit nicely. I even have an Ipod in there now.

does the sunglass holder come with its own wires/ wiring harness if not what do you do with the actual lighter as there is no where for it on the new piece i am guessing...

The lighter is on a plug, disconnect it, and its secured somewhere to the underside of the dash to prevent rattling.

I stopped by the dealership and ordered this today after school it cost me $23 and it should be in on monday... Thank you for sharing with us on the DIY I took out the trim to see exactly what was involved and it definatly is not going to take more than a few minutes to do this.

On Steptronic cars...
It's still easy to do this, but takes a little longer with Steptronic.
The Steptronic level cover still pops right up, but there's not enough room to get the trim cover over the lever cover. But you can still remove the ashtray without turning the cover over. Just do each side from the front seat. Also, on Steptronic cars, there are two electrical connections that you need to temporarily disconnect. One (blue) is for the shift indicator lights; the other (white) I assume is part of the interlock system. Takes about 30-40 minutes. BTW, other the than #10 Torx driver and something like a stiff spackler spreader to pop off the trim cover of the old ashtray, you don't need ANY tools. It's possible to do without any damage or scratches to your interior. I only tried it today because the dealer scratched the trim cover doing the SIB for the hot console. Apparently, they don't read e90post to learn how to remove the cover without scratching it! Last edited by Yobyot; 12-19-2005 at 05:21 PM.. |

Just to be clear, you put the entire head unit into the sunglass holder? Or you mean you just removed the ashe tray and put the head unit in its place? Any chance you got a pic of your set up? thanks, |

Why don't you guys just use the armrest storage area to hold sunglasses? I put them in the cupholder.

The lid closes without a problem. Like I mentioned, the sides of the holder had to be shaved a bit to make it fit. One thing that has changed is that I removed the flag sticker on the MyFi and replaced it with a sticker that matches the woodgrain in the dashboard. I will post that shot elsewhere at a later time. Now if I can only get someone from Pacific BMW to pick up my phone call. It's like their entire parts department is busy today, I've been calling them all morning and I either get a operator with super heavy accent (can't understand a word he says) or some guy's voicemail For those of you who ordered from Pacific, how did you order sunglass holder? I don't see the part number on their website. |

I called them several times yesterday and waited on hold and the operator just took down my name and number. After no reply by 10 this morning, I bashed their line for ten minutes and finally got through to someone. Last time I ordered it was a breeze. I guess all this holidy crap is affecting them too.
