Given intakes do squat for performance, I don't think they're on the required FBO list. FBO should include FMIC, downpipes, charge pipe and tune. |

The issue here, there's no definition, but knowing subaru, audi and honda, it should be all similar. They got +/- the same idea. I found Unitronic and APR got it good. - Stage 1 : software only - Stage 2 : FBO required for this car, from this tuner and a reasonable price & availability + software - Stage 3 : induction system changed or added + custom tune or custom ECU Then, ''tuners'' like to add : '' + , pump, pro'' and all other marketing shit. So FBO change for car model to car models. i.e. FBO for my audi is full exhaust, diverter valve, intake, by Unitronic on stage 2. But they do a stage 2-pump, which add very expensive, non-common item : HPFP, injectors and FMIC. They even do a stage 2 +, which is to put a OEM k04 bigger turbo. And of course Stage 3 is a custom big turbo. Now for the BMW world , it seems to be all over the place, especially for the E90 N54/N55, since the DME is very flexible and you can do most-likely what you want. But at the end, if MHD/bootmod/jb4/motiv/reflex/cobb/nameit, call for the same common and widely available parts for their ''stage 2'' , then those are FBOs. |
