MP3 Difficult to burn right

I find it difficult to burn an MP3 CD that the car can play the whole CD without finally bumping into an error and it ejects the disc. So far I only managed to burn 2 perfect CD's.

I use Toast on a MacBook Pro. Anyone encounter the same thing? What's the key to burning right for the car?

The mp3 cd that causes error in the car, put that same mp3 cd in a home cd player and see if it causes the same error for that particular song. If the home entertainment cd player also kicks out an error, then it is that song that is bad and not your method of burning. I do not use Toast so I d't know but burning mp3 is easy.

The other thing to try is if you find lots of error with burning mp3, try adjusting the burn speed say from 16X down to 8X. Maybe it is burning too fast but I doubt that it is the burn speed.

Try the first diagnosis and report back to us. GL

BTW, I have never had mp3 error in the e90 stereo systems. It is a fine logic 7 system (I must say).

Check the media too ... some dyes get read better than others by finicky players. And turn the burn speed way way down if you can. My e90 won't play any of my brand blanks burned any higher than 4x. But every other optical drive I have will (my HT dvd player will also play discs with mp3s and it plays the discs the e90 won't). Which is a problem because the new dvd burner I put in my pc won't go any lower than 16x.

I've also got a mac (and toast) at home, but I've never burned anything destined for the e90 on it, sorry I can't be much help there. Won't the new itunes burn directly for you now?

I have the burn speed all the way down to 2x and it still was bad. I'll do the things suggested and report back. Thanks.

OK, so I tried burning it with 2x speed. It still gave CD error and ejected it when I tried to select a song in the middle of the CD. I played it back on my Mac, it was fine.

My next trial is to get a better quality disc and burn it again at 2x, still with Toast on Mac.

I tried putting MP3s on a disk to use in my car, but I guess the copyright protection kicks in & the tracks don't play. These are tracks I bought online at musicmatch, etc. The only workaround I came up with is to burn to CD, re rip on to my hard drive, then create the MP3 disk, then the copyright stuff is gone.. Anyone know a better way to defeat this? Its not like I'm looking to steal anything, this is music I have paid for!

I forgot to ask. Are you burning mp3 songs as music files or as data files? I burn it as data files and I can stuff alot of mp3 files onto a cd. Try burning it as data files.

In Toast, there are burn format options. I selected MP3 Files, instead of Audio Files or Data. I stuffed about a hundred or so worth of songs onto the CD. And I organize the files under folders so it's easy to navigate. I'll give some of the different settings a try. Thanks.

do the 'data' option. Granted I have not use Toast but give it a try. Dont do the music option as it is not mp3 and you cannot fit alot onto a cd if you select music because the mp3 files will be converted into music files. Do data option and report back to us. It is ok to organize them into different folder (i do that too and have no problem playing cd on e90 stereo). GL.

Also, maybe it's the acutal MP3 files. I find that my E90 is a lot pickier than my iPod when it comes to playing certain MP3's - it has particular issue with VBR MP3's. Some songs that play perfectly well on my computer (mac and PC) and my iPod, completely refuse to play through the E90 or, play with glitches. This was annoying because a damaged MP3 would kick the CD player out of random mode.

You might want to re-rip your CDs at a constant 160kpbs or 192kbps - with error correction and try burning them again. You have the CD's right?

Finally find the culprit. I upgraded my Toast to 7.1 and it all worked fine now. Thanks for all your help and advice.
