As for flashing updated software... I live by "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". So unless you're looking for a specific feature that was released in a later version (i.e., updated symbols on the cluster), or a fix for a current problem (FRM not saving your coding changes), then you're safe by not doing it. If you decide to flash a module, then you will have to recode it because all the settings you changed will be gone.

There are too many variables/circumstances to list on why you would want to flash the module(s), so you'll have to do some digging and searching if that's the route you want to go.
Thank you. I have noticed FRM is not saving my coding changes. It's either due to me already having a turnsignal bulb out or it's because I need to update FRM. I will dig for the DIY on that.

Lastly, is Daten Version 57 the latest?

Yes, v57 is the latest.

There was a software release that corrected the issue of the FRM not saving the coding changes. Not sure if that's your issue, or if you just need the short circuit counter reset.

Probably both. That's usually my luck. I will google accordingly. Thank you wild.

So most of the stuff is in German, however a lot of the pictures and videos of tutorials show INPA displaying English.

Is there a way to update this to English?

Here's an example of the English:

If there is a better collection of additional English IPO files, I'd be more than happy to include/host them.

Thank you for he guide it is great, but I do have a problem!

I am running windows 10 and I tried at bimmerfest.com to get some answers, but I was "sent" here. Seems that I have installed INPA with no issues(thanks for this guide) but connecting to the car is impossible. I got one of those generic clear cables with green board that should work....I get a orange light connecting to the car, but as soon as i try to send a command to the car it blinkes once or twice and shuts off. Do I get a new cable or? You can read here and see the images of the board. Hope somebody can help...!

Yeah I can see. I am looking at new cables but unsure if that will solve the problem. It would be great if you wrote back. My father in law has also an e90 2010 i'll test on his also and report back. Can it be windows 10 incompatibility?? My car has superchips map on it. But have successfully read the codes with http://palmerperformance.com/products/scanxl/index.php and bosh carserivce reset service etc.. It shouldn't be that.. but I am suspicious of my vaccum solenoids... it pulls sometimes so I can feel the air thingy in back rest and wants to kill me in corners and other times its like meh......Think INPA would get me closer to an answer...

So I'm stuck on the last step of installing the Daten. I have no idea where to find the "misc" folder. Could somebody point me in the right direction. Thanks

Do you mean that you've downloaded it into your C drive and want to update NCS Expert and WinKFP with it?

If it's the BMW Coding Tool section you're at, step 1 is to select the SP Daten source which is the E89 folder in the C drive. There's no "misc" folder anywhere in the install. The E89 folder contains the daten.

So I was following the "Guide to BMW Coding" PDF and I guess I should have been following the "BMW Standard Tools Install Instructions" PDF
