Complete combustion is a problem with diesel engines. Because of the slow burning characteristics, if you inject too much fuel too soon you will lose power and efficiency, not enough and you don't make power.

With petrol engines the key to power is to get them to consume more air, with a diesel engine it's to consume more fuel (efficiently).

Regards

Chris

Exclamation

here is mine ..

I did not drive a lot, but the torque is HUGE, quite UNBELIEVABLE ...
6th gear, highway, the torque which comes is something.

Jan from KemPower told me 4 hours to do it, he took only 1h30 !?

Nice car NOW

P.S. : the number are not as high tahn on kempower's website because of FUEL. I fuelled by TOTAL, which is THE WORST !!! Of course, i choose one, and it's th worst !? Everybody in Belgium told me, and Jan too, JET fuiel company, but with about 800-1000km is 4 days in that country i only saw 1 JET station, and on the road to KemPower after i "tanked" 2 days before

A tuning box also works very well with the 2.0d 163hp engine. Takes it up to about 200bhp and 400Nm.
It totally transformed my wifes 120d without loosing any of the smoothness.

Its also transferrable too

Its an original tuning box from www.tuningbox.com

I think it cost about Ģ280 a couple of years ago.

Takes literally 2 mins to remove/install, which I do before any dealer visits.

The car feels so lifeless without it.

Why not go for the BMW Motorsport kit, 245BHP and 410Nm. The engine obviously revs higher as the torque isn't significantly increased over standard.

OK I know it's just a bit on the expensive side.

perhaps the one which they are using in the WTCC ...

isn't it a joke, like "buy a new race engine" ?

It's no joke.

It was originally produced for the 120d race car (like the one that won the diesel class in the recent 24hr Nurburgring race).

BMW spec.

Engine
Engine type: four-cylinder inline diesel
Displacement: 1,995 cc
Peak torque 450 Nm at 3,000 rpm
Peak output: approx. 245 bhp at approx. 4,200 rpm
Max engine speed: 5,000 rpm
Cylinder block: grey-cast
Engine control: DDE6.0

Regards

Chris

Quite impressive figures from a bolt on. Who did you buy through?

I've got a Steinbauer P-Box to go on, hopefully similar results. Although more expensive that the tuning box, it's a bit "cleverer".

Will have to see what driveability and smoke are like.

I purchased it thru a tuning-box agent (I think they are Enfield Engineering) outside Dublin. They just post it out to you.
