Not true, OEM exhausts from xi and i are interchangeable and a select few aftermarket exhaust but when I first got my car I bought a used Manzo cat back from my buddy with 335i rwd and the second bend in the exhaust from the DP flange was hitting the Transfer Case so I couldn't use it. OEM your fine, anything else id double check.

I used a 335d muffler on mine for a while. Baffles are much shorter and its a good deal louder. I think it sounds like the M exhaust. Also it was essentially free just took the exhaust off of a wrecked car.

You're right, should have thought about that. But anything resonator-back should work, which is where the action is.

If I'm modifying one I'll probably wind up getting an hks. Sigh why can't things be easy for an xi.

I just bought a corsa catback. Plan to install this weekend. The few YouTube sound clips of this system combined with downpipes sold me as I already have VRSF downpipes. They also make an axle back system that is a bit cheaper.

Garage List
Magnaflow lists a couple of cat-back options as fitting the E90 335xi.

Part # 15587 is their Touring exhaust, 16542 is Sport. Sport is louder.

Otherwise if you keep the stock midpipes, any of the axlebacks for the 335i should fit. The only xi fitment issue is midpipes touching the transfer case.

to be honest you should check out bmw PE. I think it's a great sounding exhaust and fit's all models if you're just getting the muffler. and if you're lucky you can find it here for around 600-700$

I've had a Remus exhaust (axle back only) on my 2010 335xi for about a year now. It sounds pretty terrific. I'm in the process of swapping to a HPF full cat back. I'll check back in and let you know how it goes...

Its tough picking for AWD I know u can take out like 3 inches right after the downpipes then add 3 inches to after transfer case I think

The Borlas and Magnaflows would line up in theory but they require cutting of the factory exhaust.

The others mentioned would be axle back only that would fit the xi for sure.

You could always just buy a Manzo and have a muffler shop modify it. Its not that much work.

Jeff, sorry if this is a dumb question but does that mean there is no true TBE (minus DPs since I have those already) for the 335xi? A piece/part of the OEM exhaust always remains?

The Active Autowerke would be a full cat back and go right to the downpipe. But it's a $1700 exhaust.

The current VRSF Exhaust is for "RWD ONLY" however a shop can modify it for $150 or less and it would then be a full Xi exhaust also. From what I recall, a pipe needs to be cut and extended to fit the Xi which is an easy task for any exhaust shop.

All in with the VRSF Exhaust your under $1000 to fit on an Xi. Last I heard the VRSF Exhaust will be back in stock late May or early June.
