Exclamation DME blown, Do I need to re flash my ecu?

I had a flash on my ECU and I misfired a cylinder and it ended up shorting the DME. It is currently at BMW and I am trying to figure out if this means I will have to reflash considering the person who flashes my car no longer offers the service anymore. If I do, anyone in the chicago area who flashes 335i's?

I think you most likely blew a mosfet. What are the codes?

I am 1.75 hours from Chicago. If you need the mosfets replaced I can take care of it.

I agree... Probably mosfets and no programming.

You can fix this anywhere from $2 to $200.

Hey NoQuarter, my E92 07 always throw code 5E19 (limp mode occurs). Do you know if this is a MOSFET issue? If so can you fix it?

5E19:
DSC-ECU: ECU-internal: Serial-Peripheral-Interface (SPI): ID request not accepted.
Error will cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed

Doesn't seem like the same problem to me. Unless someone else recognizes that error and thinks it is the same I'm going to guess it is a different problem.

The SPI is an interface to the DME module itself (computer communication stuff). The MOSFET problem is an output issue where each MOSFET sends a signal to an injector.

Since it does not happen all the time, I would start with looking at the actual wire harness inside the box, inspect the pins, etc.

Good Luck
