Either way, it's the shops fault for not checking pre install,
Owner shouldn't be coughing up extra labour costs. |

Obviously this is a example of Rb Twos being pushed but it shows what they're capable of.

And with all that torque down at lower RPM's....that looks like a great combination for bend rods and/or chewed up rod bearings...good luck

I recently bought Pure600s. As I intend to install them myself, any tips on running it the car as is until a custom tune is sent? Any OFS tunes safe to run in the mean time? Or should I trailer the car straight to a local tuning shop?

You could probably run an OTS tune as long as you baby it and don't get into any boost........but I would get a custom tune for it ASAP.

Thanks for the tip! That's what I'll try to do. If I decide to pursue one of the tuners mentioned on the forums is the best way to contact them via PM? Is there a specific tuning section of these forums, or should I be using other forums?

Is that MotivMotorsports that you're recommending?

Yes. Not he least expensive but they have more experience than anyone else including street and track cars. They sponsored the 1 lap of America 135i as an example.
https://www.motivmotorsport.com/coll...39802613203128 Sure you can get a custom tune from some facebook tuner online for $300 or less. I only go with someone I trust Jake/Chris have been tuning N54s since like 2010. It's small money vs. the cost of a new engine.

Sure, I agree, and I appreciate the tip, I'm brand new to the platform so I'm still learning all about it. Thanks!

OK, for those of you remembering my issues with the car in a shop in Germany, things have gone from bad to worse. I picked up the car yesterday despite the shop not having finished the tune. They've had it for close to two months, and I've had it with them. I'll probably need to hire a lawyer to settle the economy.
When I picked up the car several issues became clear: Fuel leak: After 20 miles, I filled the tank and when I started the car an intense smell of fuel spread in the cabin. Don't ask me why I decided to drive it back home, but may because it was late in the evening, and I partly hoped the whole shebang went up in flames. It didn't, but fuel was leaking like hell. Strangely only with ignition on and with a full tank - how to explain that? The shop had installed a new Walbro pump in a basked that I fitted and supplied. Gas milage as per display and lambda values were fine. And now to the thread-relevant issues questions: The exhaust seems louder. Is that possibly due to the larger turbos? In the engine bay there is now an open-/valve ended piece of 1/4 or 1/2" piping and there is a fizzing sound when I lift off the throttle. I assume this is the turbo waste gate blow off? Why would that be changed from the stock turbos? I don't particularly enjoy the sound - will I have to live with it? And the car is definetely less smooth than before. Is it possible to make the Pure St 2 as driveable as the stock ones? Pure Turbo EU claimed that the lag would comparable to stock, maybe even better than stock with 80k miles on them. There are also occasional misfires and warning lights, but no error codes readable with MHD dongle/monitor. What a nigthmare... Last edited by mike_o; 01-19-2022 at 02:53 PM.. |

Mike_o.....start from the beginning. Do you have any paperwork showing what the show was going to actually do to your car? With that kind of money involved, hopefully you have some documentation.
By the way they handled everything, it sounds like it's a small little hole in the wall shop. How much have you/did you already pay them? For future reference, it's always a good idea to do lots of research before you take your car to a random shop.... especially on a big project like that. If you don't have any work orders, job tickets, or other paperwork showing what you paid for....and what they actually did ....it's going to be really hard to prove anything in court. I'd say that at this point, you either need to find a shop that specializes in BMW's......or start reading and researching about N54's and 335i's online so that you can address/fix the problems yourself. |

That's crazy. Makes me wonder how much I'm making on the RB Game Finishers sitting around 28-29 psi.
