The car did really well too, plenty of power, great brakes, and perfect balance. I do think I need to suck it up and install the oil-coolant heat exchanger though, as the oil hit 265f after about 20 minutes of uphill flat out... my personal preference is 275 max

I also put in 100 octane...I figure once just to try it is worth it.
Howd u see ur temps?

You can get that data out of the OBD port, and some folks have 3rd party gauges. I have the p3gauge on my car to monitor temps.

I offer the hitch up to the car and the passenger side slides right on, the drivers side doesn't.
Closer investigation shows that the holes on the driver's side are indeed too close together. Some measurements from the car show the driver's side of the hitch to be lower. The bottom hole is nearly a 1/4" too high. So then I called Curt. They were less than enthusiastic about helping, basically wanted me to send them a bunch of photos and they'd get back to me. Thanks, it's not like I've got my car disassembled or anything. Was cagey about telling me if they even had a replacement, they don't. So even if they decide to exchange this one I'm going to have to ship it back to them on my dime and then wait another 90 days for a replacement.
I ordered this thing july 7 from summit and it's production date was 9/28.
So I said fuck that and I cut it up until it fit, which sucked because it's a 5/16 piece of plate, but whatever, i got metal working tools.
I had to draw the bottom piece up into the subframe with the bolt as it's bent at slightly the wrong angle as well.
The trim diagram for the bumper fascia piece was also incorrect.
Spend the money on the stealth hitch.
it's installed, but it was a bunch of fuckery and I'm not happy about it.

I did get everything under there covered liberally in fluid film after I washed it.
Ugh. I’ve heard of these stories with Curt. Sorry to see this.

I was fearing the same with our F15, but it for ok without modification.

so they emailed me back the next day and said it must be my problem because it's not their problem and not a warranty claim.

well I measured all the studs to symmetrical body features and I'm pretty sure they're where they're supposed to be. Car has no damage in the rear and has never been hit.

so I guess BMW just built it wrong according to curt.

I'll never buy another curt product.

oh, and the receiver insert that's supposed to have a 3/4 shank hole?
measures .760 on one side, .865 on the other. You can see with the naked eye that the waterjet machine isn't cutting perpendicular. That's a 1/8th inch of coning in the 3/4 inch of depth in that hole.
Just shit QC and nobody at curt cares.

Just purchased a 2008 335xi 6MT with 'slight' oil pan seepage. Initially thought the leak was worse than expected, but appears to just be new water from AC condenser traveling over old oil soaked (years of slow seepage) plastic panels. Removed the plastic panels and skid plate, cleaned all the gunk off and now they look brand new. No new 'leaks' yet as the water from AC condenser just evaporates and no longer carries old oil with it. Hoping it stays this way for a while, really not trying to replace the oil pan gasket on this thing. Fingers crossed!

This hitch fit on my e91 without any hiccups.
Without the ball mount, the receiver opening sits a bit behind the bumper.

It was $50 cheaper when I got it, 2 years ago.

I shot a local ‘08 M5 6MT for a BaT auction and it was a beast. Nice garage with QuickJack, it must be quite easy for those projects.

The quickjacks are definitely a huge plus. With 3 BMW's and a couple other cars to maintain being able to DIY everything saves big 💰. I am only 30 miles south if you ever need a hand!

Sony makes a great line of Walkmans now that can hold a lot of music. The DAC audio converter is top notch as is the amp that drives headphones. I use it via my E90's AUX input. It also connects to an audio system via Bluetooth.

Anywhere near Tullahoma? I did a shoot down at George Dickel a few months ago and loved the drive.

Murfreesboro, so not that far south. I like the Tullahoma area, been through there a few times, nice backroads.

Did a little sum sum. Idk how I feel about it tho.

Also, took in this 2 owner 2004 745Li with 152k miles. Runs and drives well. Customer traded it in for a 2021 F-150 Lariat. 0% for 72 months.. That's rare to see nowadays.

Carfax is clean 65 service records. So, it was well maintained. 152k miles for a BMW V8 is impressive IMO.

Surprisingly, it doesn't leak or burn a drop of oil per the Tech.

The body is in good shape. No rust. Minor scratch along the right side quarter panel and dent on the gas cap.

why not both?
wife's been talking about building a teardrop.

my brother and I built this m100 expedition trailer from scratch with a repop tub using a scrap m416 as donor parts.
I once converted a uhaul truck into a toterhome as well.

No reason at all it can't be both, just took me by surprise That's a cool trailer, nice fab work.

My wife is obsessed with finding a van to convert into a nomadmobile.

You must have missed the part about it being my wife's obsession. I got enough cars and trucks and sickles to keep me busy, plus our (read her) RV that I'm already responsible for maintaining. But thx, I'll keep you in mind if she actually gets one and I'm inevitably responsible for all the greasy and non-cute parts.
