335d value?

So, I was poking around and asked a couple sites to value my 2010 335d: both came up with around $4K tradein. Probably it's low because I have 138K on it, but still.

Anyone sold their car lately? Any thoughts on a car that's in perfect mechanical condition (even has all emissions systems intact!)

With emissions that's a negative around here lol. But in all seriousness see them go from 8000 all the way 12000....private party sale. Although a buddy of mine just got a 2011 with 108k for 7000. All stock.

Sorry to see you go, Floyd. You're one of the few remaining "old-timers". I've still got mine down in the Sacramento area.

I have 94k only as it is not my daily driver and the two of us have two other cars for around town and dirt roads.

But, I continue to think about selling it. I hate to because I really enjoy driving it and other than a bit of a dip in MPG and performance it runs fine. My suspension is acting just perfectly after continual upgrades. I have been pondering getting a CBU cleaning down in Hemet, but I worry about something else getting hosed up in the process.

I almost sprung for a 2016 Cayenne diesel about a year ago, but wasn't ready. And then a perfect 2018 X5D with only 5k was available, but I dawdled on it too. So I don't have a clue what I want now.

I don't post often here anymore. I also am an old timer. Hate to see Floyd sell but at some point, we all have/need/want to.

Well, in my county I still need to pass the smog test if I want to keep driving it. That's the one thing about the almost fully depreciated car of mine I like; I'm not so concerned about whether it stops running or if I decided I don't want to spring big bucks to get it fixed. With these vehicles you can always find some hardcore guy to take it off your hands if it is in decent condition.

That's my hope when the time comes. I have 110K miles on the car and on the highway it literally purrs along (the diesel kinda does have that sound under light throttle). Unfortunately my driving pattern have become mostly short trips which is terrible for the D. I mostly use the other car unless the trip will be at least 10+ miles long.

As the car will not lose much more in value at this point I'll just keep it a while longer. Unless BMW comes out with a realistic and appropriately priced i4, and I can wait that long, the next car will be a Tesla. BMW really missed the boat on getting out their electrics at the right time.

I just picked one up with 80K miles- it runs like a top, but of course after buying THEN I started researching and got a little freaked out with all the horror stories.

But watching this;

that's about the easiest intake manifold removal there is for a modern car.
I'm not worried about working on this thing. The downpipe install is no big deal- the biggest pain I see will be dealing with the SCR....

food for thought

I was going to make my own post on value, but I saw this one. I'm going to sell my car in the near future. I figure it is on the high side of value if you did an apples to apples comparison.

2011. 93k. Single owner. Upgraded OEM wheels. Newer brakes. Carbon cleaned at dealer at 55k. Disabled ERG, so no more carbon (Possibly reversible). Upgraded speakers. Replaced suspension. SEL replaced under warranty.

I was going to move the subwoofer out on Tuesday with plans to drop that into my G20 that is on the way. I'd leave that if someone wanted to pay a reasonable price for it. It is reasonably the best partially stock system I've heard.

A local forum guru knows the car too.

Very nicely detailed; black always looks nice (for 1 hour!) after cleaning. What are you asking? $12K-$15K?

I was thinking that range.

One more thing, I put in an aftermarket backup camera after I scraped up the rear bumper. I replaced the bumper with a sports bumper. The system has two more inputs. I thought about getting a night vision camera for the front, but they were too pricey back in the day. I bet there are used night vision cameras around somewhere.

I only buy black cars. The front pic was today being a bit dirty. Still look good.

I figure it set for tuning if someone wanted to.

Just found another 2011 with only 46k miles! Hopefully it passes the dealers inspection so I can make an offer on it...
