Cobb AccessPORT help
I just picked up a CObb AccessPORT for my 2011 e92. Followed the directions. Rom unsupported or dme update necessary.
I double checked my CAP model number and searched the inter web for e92 compatibility. All check out. Other than scheduling a service appointment, is there anything I can do? |

With that being said it probably isn't worth it to pay someone to flash an older rom, buy a JB4, and hope that you can find an older BEF.

A local shop and Cobb confirmed that my generation of software was problematic, so Cobb stopped supporting it. Both recommended software update of the ecu to solve the problem. While the Cobb may not be the sexiest tune out there, it is my first tune on an 8 year old car with 74k miles. I’m not looking to go crazy. As long as Cobb is safe...
But I do get what you are saying. |

So the shop bricked my ecu when trying to update my bmw software. The story is the ecu was “custom coded”. They couldn’t tell me if that meant it was tuned from the prior owner. Just that the update was taking all day to load, stopped, then the car wouldn’t start.
So yeah. |

So after your DME gets repaired or replaced then use MHD. This wouldn't have been an issue had you gone that route.

Update: I said “screw it” to the tune shop and booked an appointment at the bmw ASC. In an hour and half I received a call that the programming was completed and fully operational.
I programmed my Cobb AP and it flashed as designed. I can’t fully appreciate the changes because of the winter tires I have on now, but shifts are smooth and the the throttle is responsive. I will compare it this summer. |
