E90post HOUSTON Presents... N52 Exhausts! [VIDEO]

It's long been a problem for anyone trying to decide on exhausts unless you've heard them in person... watching youtube videos are nearly useless since every camera sounds different.

I figured there were many people on the fence about things like I was not long ago, so without further adieu..

E90post Houston presents to you an exhaust video of 4 different cars recorded at the SAME TIME, SAME PLACE, AND WITH THE SAME CAMERA! And for God's sake, no ear shattering wind noise. I was the only person revving the cars, and I did them all in the same manner: quick throttle jabs while climbing RPM up to 5k.

WATCH IN 720p!!!!

Credits:
Hooy - Because I'm sexy.
ThuyDee - 325i (incorrectly labeled as 328i in the vid), stock
DJ Apex - 330i w/ muffler delete, cat delete
Ramirez330i - 330i w/ Magnaflow catback part #16539
NaNo_F1 - 328i w/ BMW PE, stock intake and for shooting/editing the video

Notes:
-Video was shot using a Sony NEX-5
-BMW PE & Magnaflow #16539 were both broken in with under 1k miles (but above 500)
-BMW PE was "loud" from the outside, but nearly mute in the cabin with windows up. NaNo_F1 and TexasBmw11 claim power gain.
-Magnaflow was pleasantly "loud" from the cabin, but quieter than PE from the outside. Ramirez330i and SmooveB claim power gain.
-Muffler/cat delete was loud both in cabin and outside. Resonator in tact, so it was not raspy. DJ Apex claims power gain from cat delete.

Hope this helps. I'll hopefully be doing an N54 video soon. Enjoy.

EDIT 12/14/11:
Here's a random video of a flyby shot by a GoPro Hero 1 of my BMW PE. The sound on GoPros suck, so take with a grain of salt.

On a 2nd listen through it sounded like the PE wasn't warmed up enough and was cold.

Didn't even think twice about getting the BMW PE (well, maybe the 1k price tag but...) Great work, good comparison video!

great idea for a post. its nice to see someone put some effort into making a comparison video. it would be cool if someone did a video with even more choices like mmw, magnaflow 14815, rogue ikon and others...

magnaflow is deeper where as PE is higher pitched and louder in the high revs. If you want a higher pitched loud sound w/out drone or idle noise and like the gargle-pop (which on the PE is sex btw), go with the PE. I like my magnaflow because it has a deep powerful sound, and keeps a very classy exhaust note on the car as compared to a muffler delete (etc.), and also has noticeable HP gains throughout the mid rpm range.

+1 guys. I will tell you this, the PE is genuinely loud. HOWEVER, you cannot hear it inside the car with the windows up during light acceleration... this means POLICE WILL HEAR YOU before you hear yourself lol.

hahaha don't need to worry about police if you drive a like a normal citizen ^_^

but damn... BMW PE almost made me pitch a tent hahaha I actually haven't been in a car with the PE installed. Does the PE overpower the sound of the engine or do the 2 sound blend well together for that eargasm??? still would love to hear that inline 6.

I was worried about the PE overpowering the I6 as well. I have a definitive answer for you... NO. The two sounds are VERY separate... the PE does an extremely good job of channeling sound out of the tips instead of into the cabin, so you'll hear the I6 easily.

We had come in from about a 15 min spirited drive 1/2 hour before this was shot. In Houston weather, the exhaust was still warm.

Thanks for posting Hooy! Enjoy your PE!

Go PE or go home!

PE + PI + Res. & 2nd cat delete still gives me shivers when I downshift at 6k rpm in a tunnel. It got that little exotic sound that I cant get bored of. Never heard an exhaust's sound that compliments an intake's sound that good.

And guys; if you want to do it; do it now! BMW already stopped production of the e90 perf. intakes and will soon be discontinuing the exhaust as well. I waited months to get them and I was out of luck until I found these. So its just a matter of time before the products gets rare; and price might even go up for those who have some units left.

Is the 2ndary cat delete worth it? If you're going to fail emissions, might as well get an off-road tune right?
