What BHP for a sub 11.5 second quarter mile?

On a full street setup, street tyres, etc. What sort of power levels are needed for an 11.5s or less 1/4 mile? I have read around old threads, and people seemed to suggest around 600bhp would do the trick.

Does this seem accurate, or optimistic?

Auto or manual? Think you'll need at least 700 for manual from what I've seen.

It'll come down to launch and those street tires are going to hurt ya. suspenceful did a 10 second pass with 750 on a manual so I'd say you can do 11.49 with 500-600 depending on your launch. A LSD will help but you'll have tough luck attempting any off-the-line boost or engine momentum with your fancy automatic. Are you JB4?

450 to the wheels and a real tire should be just enough in good air

Problem with the DCT is getting it to launch without roasting the wheels off. I know, I have been trying. I just flashed the 135 DCT to it so the launch should be at 3K now. But I have just been mashing the pedal and letting the trans do the work. Gotta know your Optimal shift points as well. I'm just about 500whp and mine stack like this,
1st 6400
2nd 5770
3rd 5300
4th 4850
5th 4700

450-500whp is plenty to hit a 11.5 pass. It's all about the 60 ft at that point. I did 11.8's on street tires, no launch control, just soft pedaling it off the line, and with 2.1-2.2 60 ft times. Trim .3-.4 sec off of that and you're easily in the lower 11's.

Isn't a DCT faster than a manual?

I'm no expert admit-tingly, but from what I have read, you'd need around 500 plus HP; a DCT & an LSD make it a lot easier to attain.

No, a DCT will hurt you in the 1/4 unless you have variable launch like an M car has. It's just not meant for a controlled wheel spin launch.
If you get a good launch which is very hard to do, then it might help you but getting the launch is hard to do.

No, only the M's do. The 335 kicks in at 5K and the 135 kicks in at 3K.

There isn't an xhp flash for DCT.

Yes, but if you had an automatic, you could play with the settings a little to overcome some of what was discussed. No?

xHP has a form of LC for the Steptronic which I think is a highly evolved form of brake boosting. That's not possible with a DCT. It's a great way to smoke a $2000 clutch pack. It's apples to oranges to compare the two. They're two different operating systems.

That's what I thought i read about. I have stage 1 & 2.

Until I refurb my trans solenoids, I'm not gonna get stage 3.

I have adjustable LC on my 335is now, I'm just waiting for the temps to drop so I won't be wasting my time going to the strip. I dropped down to 18's and am running 265/40 Federal RS-RRs, not drag radials but better than the average street tire. M3 drivetrain with a custom 2.81 FD should get me out of the hole fairly quick if it hooks. I'll know in a couple months. I'd be ecstatic with a 1.8-1.9 60 ft.

I know you have it but you put a shit ton of effort into making that happen.
Make sure and post your times when you run.
I'll be testing the 135 Launch control thanks to you for letting me know how to flash it.

Lol, shit ton about covers it. And $$$, although now it seems that those parts are even more expensive. I guess guys have been buying them up and driving the market up with it.

I've heard good things with the 135 flash. It's definitely a step in the right direction.
