SoCAl PE Mod

I recently moved down to Irvine and am looking to get the pe mod done to my car. Is there a place that would do it for cheap. I would also appreciate it if you could also mention the price you got the job done for. Thanks

I'm currently looking for a shop to do it also. The first one I went to used to do it but doesn't anymore. I found another that's willing to do it for $280. I have a couple more shops to go to and ask for a price on it still.

Dumb question but what is a PE mod?

R u referring to a shop that cud install a PE muffler or is there some mod that's done to a stock muffler?

I just bot a used E91 and have been looking for a PE exhaust or something that sounds close to it.

Thanks

It is essentially a modification that can be done to the stock muffler that changes it into the PE muffler. The process includes cutting open the muffler and replacing the perforated pipes with solid piping. Then you could remove the resonators with a xpipe if you dont already have that. It sounds the same at 1/4 the cost

I did the muffler mod myself. If you have a welder and a grinder then it's pretty easy

For $600, why wouldn't you just by an VRSF exhaust?

It's super quiet and weighs less than the OEM exhaust.

You do the PE mod to make noise.

The proper question to ask is, "Why don't you just buy a BMW PE exhaust?" However, the answer is usually $$$, which is understandable.

Paying $250 "to make noise" is literally one of the silliest things I've read on a car forum in awhile.

I mean, instead of paying $250 to make noise why not use that $250 to make your car faster? I know this is a German car forum, but that's some serious Honda ricer shit

$250 is cheap compared to what is out there...The other German forum members pay $1 - $2k for noise...it's all relative

I am already FBO running E40 but I would rather save $600-$700 doing the PE mod than actually buying the actual Performance Exhaust because its literally the same fucking thing. If you want to throw more money just because you have the mentality that German cars shouldn't save money then you can go ahead and do that.

Why not buy an exhaust that makes power then?

There are more than a few options available. If the PE exhaust is essentially the OEM exhaust with just a muffler mod, it's still restrictive. I saw mine, and a few sections are crimped and ovaled. Everyone can buy what they want, but I love the VRSF that I recently got installed on my 335i and it's not too expensive.

Also, how is FBO no exhaust? Or do you already have a catback on there?

To each their own
