To have a fully functioning NBT in my old banger, will certainly give my cabin some much needed improvement with 10 years worth of tech over the CCC (I love the album covers etc when playing music - and it looks soooo much faster than my clunky CCC)

I wasn't aware that CIC had the USB port in the glovebox. AFAIK 2011 M3's had them in the armrest (the centre console I bought from a wrecked M3 had the slot for it in teh armrest/centre console)

This also brings up another issue with the cable, as apparently some cables are only 1M long which isnt long enough to reach the centre console you need a 1.5 metre cable???
CIC has USB in the arm rest and in the glovebox FYI

CIC systems that came with 6Fl and 6VC option codes (Combox) has 2 USB ports, one in the glovebox and the other in the armrest.

CIC that doesn't have Combox only has one USB port in the glovebox and only an AUX port in the armrest without USB.

The USB port in the glovebox is used to update the maps and CIC firmware (can be obtained from BMW website for free by entering your VIN). While the USB in the armrest can't be used for updating, but is used instead for connecting USB sticks, iPhone, iPod... etc.

CCC doesn't have any USB ports anywhere, but has an AUX in the armrest.

EB89 your car has CIC with Combox so you won't be benefiting much from doing a NBT upgrade! You'll gain slightly better graphics, faster processor, higher contrast screen, larger HDD storage capacity, M-lap timer, BMW Apps, ability to stream videos from USB in the armrest (CIC does not allow this), and Sports Display (real-time power and torque meters).

can answer that for you, Yes I have the M-Startup logo

It will not appear every time you start the car but when the iDrive restarts... you can force the idrive to restart on the F series but i'm not sure it is the same for the retrofit E series

you can also enable video and camera in motion with coding

Might just be cheaper if you buy a used unit off ebay and just group buy the adapter. The used ebay units will require codingthough, you'll want to wire the ethernet from the NBT unit to the OBD port if you are coming from CCC.

Can be coded with a $20 ENET cable.

Maybe some of you guys should attend the next syd coding meet,

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1188169

knightsabers is quite knowledgeable as he has coded over 20 F series NBT/Entry Navs over the last year and also has a retrofit NBT on his F30. I'm sure he can answer some of your questions in regards to coding and functions

The eNBT adapter itself is 500 euro. It has everything that BimmerRetrofit charges extra for, including dynamic parking lines, so it would mean they value the screen, iDrive controller and head unit at about 750 euro. We get 90 euro off the lot, so the eBay prices aren't that much cheaper, especially if they're not all gonna be cheap. You're gonna have everyone clamouring to snap up the cheapest NBT head units they can find, and in the end, someone is gonna be paying the most and way more than the guy who snapped up that ridiculously cheap deal before anyone else saw. At least this way, we share the love a bit and all pay the same price. Not to mention, some of those iDrive controllers aren't touch ones.

Shane, the one you linked off eBay is 2m. Though it's not 86 bucks but closer to 96, which is still way cheaper than the 250 euro ************** are asking!

lol lucky you and CIC. The more I read the more I wanna get rid of my CCC. You can still sell your CIC for about a grand still. Maybe not as worth it for the CIC guys.

Also I found a cheap source for the USB/aux input port and cable (the cable goes from the usb port to the head unit AFAIK) for anyone who needs one, once we determine exactly what type is required ($86 AUD delivered for a new genuine item)

example of an image below to give you an idea what I'm talking about

I need this too.... stupid 1st owner didn't get USB option WTF?

There's a helluva lot more to do than just code it and swap it out mate. The kit is 1700. But you're still gonna need about 600 bucks or more for all the other parts needed. Touch ecu, USB/AUX box, CIC centre trim which needs to be modified to fit NBT controller, CIC front panel, CIC fascia trim. CCC guys will also need additional wiring.

For CIC guys, it's a lot easier and cheaper for them as they have all the CIC trims

OK cool I handt checked the cable length, had read somewhere that some cables are only 1M and arent long enough for the centre console.

It was $86 AUD buying them separate (I linked that particular item as it was for a listing for the port and cable to demonstrate whats on offer from that seller)

I just retrofitted CCC to CIC in my car and it was pretty easy compared to NBT you have to modify the CID screen to fit into E series and a lot of wiring to do.

EXAMPLE

But it does look pretty good.

You can try AutoModelista or Active Moterwerke. For CIC intstall Auto Modelista quoted me $220 for labor and coding, I'm guess NBT would be a bit more. But it gives you a ball park figure.

WOW even his username is blocked by this site. Talk about stifling competition. BimmerRetrofit must have requested the name to be blocked. How dodgy is that?!

I installed and coded Trev88's CIC and combox for him. Required some repinning of the MULF harness but wasn't too bad.

NBT requires a bit more work with the trimming of the display. Not hard but it would be time consuming. I'd say unless you're going to CNC route the cutout for the touch controller its not going to look that great. You can still use the CIC controller if you don't want to deal with the trim though.
