Yes, delete the current VO and insert the new one. Then FA_WRITE to CAS and FRM.

WELL "importing full set of DATENs" for my e90 sounds new. Going to do some research on this. I connected the cable and on INPA both black dots are here so I assume the cable works fine?

Can someone give me a hand, I'm getting the following error;





Please note, I recently updated the datens for my E90 & E70 to vers. 55.4 by utilizing the following instructions.

To update the daten files, copy the files from SP-daten-E##\daten to the C:\NCSEXPER\DATEN\E## (where E## is whatever chassis you're updating). You will also want to copy the files from SP-daten-E##\SGDAT to C:\NCSEXPER\SGDAT (they're not separated into different chassis in NCS Expert, so you just want to copy and paste everything to that directory. Overwrite everything it asks about). The last step to fully updating the install is copying the files from SP-daten-E##\ECU to C:\EDIABAS\ECU.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a problem between your car and cable, not a software issue. Do you have latency in serial port COM set to 1?

Where do I set that? I checked the com1 port settings, even under advanced, but saw no latency setting.

Latency is set in the same screen as your comm port.

A little more information, please.
I have gone to computer, properties, device manager, ports, com1, double clicked on it - no latency setting anywhere, then went to advanced, still no latency setting anywhere. This is the only hardware setting screen for comm ports I know of. Just what screen are you referring to?

It sounds like either the right driver isn't installed or comm 1 isn't your obd cable.

Please help - trying to code 2012 X5 E70 and getting an error.

Used this DYI to install everything to the tooth - but of course used E70 daten files.
INPA 5.0.6, NCS-Expert 4.0.1, SP-Daten v2.55.0
Cable set to Com1, Latency 1

Run NCS Expert, F1, F3, chose E70, chose CAS, after about 5-10 seconds get the error.

It does, they seem to "flicker" - the top one is mostly blank, sometimes flickering black, and the bottom one is mostly black sometimes flickering blank.

There are also battery and ignition dots, that stay black even when cable isn't plugged in.

Theres also a red led on the cable that blinks when the NSCExpert is trying to read data.

Im thinking it must be my cable - its a cheap cable I bought on ebay. I ordered the cable from one stop electronics, and will try it again with that.

The ignition and battery dots are the ones that matter. It sounds like a software set up issue as well since the dots are constant on.
