130k miles service interval for 06 330i (manual transmission)
Shortly I will be taking my 06 330i (manual) for a 130k service to an Indy. Can you guys suggest what needs to be looked at and replaced. Also what all preventive maintenance stuff that needs to be done. Following were the repairs that was taken care of an year back at 118000 miles,
1) Suspension refresh (Rear shocks, control arms, sway bars, Front thrust arms ) . Except Struts. 2) Manual Transmission Fluid Change , 3) Gear Oil, 4) Engine Motor Mounts , 5) Oil Pan Gasket, 6) Valve Cover Gasket, 7) Coolant, 8) Cooling system flush , 9) Evacuate and fill AC refrigerant. 10) Power Steering Flush, 11) Differential Fluid 12) New OEM Battery Oil Change and Cabin Air Filter - Two months back. @85000 miles Front Struts / Spark plugs / Thermostat / Idler Pulley / Drive belt and Upper Radiator Hose. I am having some suspension complaints and driver side rear window not closing issues which I will be asking to check. Also the audio system has lost its indicators and not working properly. Most likely I will have them replaced. Apart from this, are there anything else that needs to be checked? Last edited by tomgwuyn; 08-05-2020 at 03:56 PM.. |

Oil filter housing gasket if not done earlier, amd check the PCV system. My 330i is on 90k and just did these - OFHG due to gross failure, PCV due to suspected cause of hesitation/rough idle, starter changed too as preventative whilst intake manifold was off. Your water pump will DEFINITELY die any moment if you are still on the original too...

You don't see many timing chain replacements here and there are
some threads of people hitting 300k . https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...highlight=300k |

It's a chain. It's not a wear item - definitely lifetime, unless the engine has been severely abused and undermaintained.

here's a fact you may not know about the clutch fluid.
the clutch fluid and brake fluid are sorta shared in the same reservoir a split that does not really isolate them from each other so if your going to change one you should change them both. Also the brake bleeding procedure should be run from Inpa or Ista D to bleed the brake fluid in the anti lock brake module. Recomend you use the Redline D4 or D6 for your transmission it will smooth it out a lot . See redlineoil.com https://www.redlineoil.com/find-products-for-my-vehicle |

What do you mean by gear oil? Isn't that the same as differential? Also you don't need to flush the AC refrigerant unless you changed the compressor.

For bluetooth streaming alone, many have bought the ebay box (search and you should find a long thread on it) and for all the fancy stuff (carplay and whatever) many have gone with the Eonon head unit which relocates your climate controls to the lower part of the radio area. If you just want to leave everything as is and just have bluetooth streaming, you can look into a Tunai or Bovee which are both on amazon and plug into the existing AUX wire/USB. I have read that the sound quality is decent on both. |

There is a whole stereo sub forum here.
There are many things you have to be aware of when modifying the stereo system. One is which of the three common stereo systems you are starting out with. stereo = no amp head unit only Hi Fi = weak amp and cheap speakers with tweeters Top Hi Fi / Logic 7= 9 channel amp better speakers. fiber optic interface makes Logic 7 harder to modify. If you pull out the Head Unit often additional programming is needed to turn off SOS. It's not that hard to do. |

https://www.ebay.com/itm/153896653072?ul_noapp=true Out of stock now, but seems like a great solution as it is just a new head unit with bluetooth streaming built in. I am sure if you message the seller he can give you an idea on when he will have another. |

Vanos solenoids piss easy to replace anytime, no point unless you get codes or symptoms. I would just wait for them to go. Alternatively, for Preventative can clean them out with switch cleaner spray or soak in petrol overnight then blast out any goo, then swap them over to get more miles form them. I did this too, quite effective.
