I might be wrong but I think the only difference between a sports suspension and a regular suspension is the springs. I think both might be using the same exact shock and strut setup (I'm talking about the I model here not XI). Read this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=271706 This might happen to you eventually if you go with springs only. |

Definitely springs & shocks need to be purchased for a proper working combination.
Eibach Pro kit springs will give a moderate drop .... just enough to tell the car is lowered. H&R sport springs will give a little more drop than the Eibachs. H&R race springs are going to be the most aggressive ...... about 2" front and just under 2" in the rear. |

Cheers guys, I think im gonna risk it and just with springs as the car is only a 320 so don't want to spend too much on it... I would consider full kit if i had the 330 or above...
Cheers delta thats wot I wanted to know I will be orderin the springs soon.... if there are problems with the shocks i will remove and put basic springs back on and take in for warrenty work.....

Be aware that the H&R sport springs are different in the UK and USA. Can't remember which way around, but pretty sure the 'sports' in the UK is the equivalent to 'race' in the USA (i.e. bloody low).
I had H&R sports on mine and it was crazy low. For stock suspension I would go with the Eibach Pro-kit. If later you wanted a different shock, you can buy the Koni FSD's that have been proven to work well with the eibachs. |

Other than a full coilover kit that's the best choice for our shoddy roads IMHO

OMG how do you claen those rims? Beautiful car BTW!
I have lowered quite a few japanese cars with springs only and never had any issues at all with the struts, however those were japanese cars and to be honest my friends and myself never really kept any of our cars past two years so I do know if knew buyer ever had any problems with the shocks. I would recommend shocks if your keeping it for a while.

I've lowered my M Sport suspension with H&R Sports. With the M Sport being around 15mm lower than the SE suspension this means the front came down another 20mm and the rear about 10mm. Doesn't sound a lot but does look a lot different. Ride is firmer. Need to watch you don't hit speed bumps too quickly. And handling is much tighter. Eibachs are slightly different to H&R I believe. Not so low or as harsh. I have now done over 20,000 miles since fitting (32,000 since Aug 08) and have had no problems so far.
Watch out for US scare stories. I believe their suspension in stock SE trim is jacked up higher than the EU cars. Certainly looks it in their photos. Until the new LCI version they didn't have a M Sport option available to them. |
