Arm 1k fmic
So I placed my order Monday and received my package from arm Friday, Came packaged nice.
Welds on the intercooler where very below par. When I was first inspecting the intercooler I noticed about 15 paint chips not sure how this got through Quality control I emailed them for a resolution but they didn't respond |

Boost test it for leaks. Those welds on the right face are terrible. They could have at least ground them better. Those cores look really janky too..

Never been a fan of ARM I'd return it. My VRSF intercooler looked 100x better than that

Paint chips won’t show. Neither the welds that look ok. Let’s be honest, can some of the participants in this thread do better welds? I would proceed with install and be happy with or without any partial refund. Let’s be realistic, if I give once over to the cars of all you who criticize this IC I’m sure I would find imperfections as well, might even worse than this IC

Looks to be a TIG welded aluminum heat exchanger. The welds show no porosity and have good penetration, so strength of the welds don't seem to be in jeopardy. Not the prettiest and straightest welds in some places, but was the part purchased for aesthetics or to hold a charge and cool it. I would think the final QA is a pressure test double of the expected use pressure. Paint chips will be a non-issue once the part is fitted and driven on the street. My 2 cents. |
