Kimi just doesn't have the edge those four do, he seems content on placing third and perhaps second from time to time but that's it. I don't ever see him "going for it" or really putting pressure on people like any of the above four would.

He's essentially my favorite driver on the grid right now, but I have to be honest. This really should be his last year.
I think he understands his job is to support Seb and finish the race to help with the constructors championship. I think Ferrari might keep him around just bec he is a good team player. I don't think teams really want their drivers racing against each other.

Ferrari doesn't care about the constructors' title. They get a huge check from F1 just for showing up in red cars. They're all about the driver's title.

This latest report has Kimi and Leclerc switching seats now, with Kimi becoming a part owner in Sauber and retiring from driving at the end of this season.

Iím a big Kimi fan since his McLaren days and even named a cat after him. Wish he stayed one more year as he was finally getting good performance out of the car, shown by all the podiums. Understandable why they want young talent though, letís hope he can challenge Vettel otherwise whatís the point.

Not sure why Kimi would want to have a seat on a secondary team. I'm sure he wants to compete, but he will likely find himself in Alonso's shoes of not being within sight of a podium. I'm not sure Ferrari will fare any better because of this. Vettel has been screwing up and Leclerc will be a big question mark. Kimi was a great #2 driver at this point. The issue at Ferrari is more about Vettel than Kimi.

Bwahhhhhhhahhhhhahhhhaaaa!

Let's see: 2018 is now the 4th consecutive year that VET has outscored RAI, and the 2nd consecutive that he's outscored BOT as well. In both 2015 and 2017 he outscored Kimi (and in 2017 BOT) by more than 100 points. He's quite the screwup!

You say this about the guy who put a Lotus on the top step of the podium in 2012 and 2013. ("Leave me alone -- I know what to do.") As the #1 driver on a struggling team he has quite a good record.

I was surprised by this, especially with his recent quotes about Rosberg, but perhaps his contract with Sauber will not require as much PR as Ferrari.

-------------------

He said that when he eventually retires from F1, staying away from the paddock will not be difficult.

"No it will not be hard to stop this job. I will be relieved when all of the things not involving driving will end. The driving is great but nothing else," the Ferrari driver said at the launch (of his autobiography) in Helsinki.

Kimi Raikkonen says he cannot understand why Nico Rosberg retired as world champion after 2016.

"When he explained why (he is stopping) I thought it was cool and I understood."

Now he's standing there with a microphone. I cannot understand why given the reasons he gave for wanting to leave," Raikkonen when asked if he would be tempted to follow Rosberg's lead in returning as a regular pundit.

"Yes, I'm interested in doing something like developing a car, but in the background not in public. It will not be standing with a microphone," Raikkonen insisted.

Kimi's first interview since the announcements...classic Kimi. When this guy does decide to leave F1, we're going to miss a personality like no other.

Press question: Tell us about why you want to go back?

Raikkonen: "Because I want to go... [laughs] Why do you make it so complicated? I don't know anything more than you guys purely on where they will be finishing. Obviously I don't know what will happen. Nobody knows what will happen. We can always guess. My reasons are enough for me, I don't really care what others think. As long as I'm happy with my own reasons that's happy for me."

Press Question: And you are still passionate about racing?

Raikkonen: "No, I'm not actually! It's just by pure head games for you guys I happen to sign and I'm going to spend two years there just not being happy."

Press comment: Well Kimi, thanks for the insight...

Raikkonen: [smirking] "No worries".

He's pretty funny.

I never understood the hype around him, but I like him.

Aside from his WDC for Ferrari, he finished 2nd twice for McLaren (as a very young driver), once by just 2 points. In every season for them and Lotus/Renault, he scored twice the points of his teammate. If it weren't for particularly bad luck at McLaren, he'd easily have 3 WDCs.

You could easily say the same about Lewis. He was a runner up in his rookie year, and barely missed the WDC in 2016 by a string of bad luck. - Not to mention his years at McLaren which didn't amount to much.
