Earth point near the Stereo

Hello all.

Recently fitted a aftermarket radio that requires thicker power cable connected direct to the battery. This radio demands thicker cable with 15Amp capacity.
Need to also upgrade the earth wire.

Anyone abler to help me locate a earth point no too far from the stereo please

I don't recall anybody having trouble with grounds or
power using the Power and Ground out of the factory
Harness with a Metra or Connects 2 Harness.

You could establish chassis ground with an ohmeter.

Appreciate your reply

Standard aftermarket radios work fine with the factory power wire.

But this radio is little different.
Pioneer and Sony released 2 radios with Class D 4x100w power instead of the usual 4x50w.
They deliver about 45w RMS per channel and pulls 15amp but the factory wires are rated at 10amp.

The instruction manual recommends upgrade wires to min 14AWG.
Otherwise as you increase the volume the music cuts out.

This videos shows the music cut out.

This videos show owner upgraded the power wire and no issues.

Makes sense the most I have seen Head units produce it
45 watts and that may have been peak.
