Does it stay fully vertical, or is it closing but just not latching down at the very end?

This can be many things - but as with all errors, it is best to start with the easiest or most obvious and work from there.

1) Is something preventing it from closing? An item in the trunk, a squished seat belt, etc?

2) Try and lube all mechanical components with lithium grease and lube all rubber components with gummi pflege. This frequently resolves issues.

3) Are you getting a code in idrive or anywhere else? If so, what is it saying?

4) Listen and see if a motor is working but not doing anthing, or is everything silent indicating that a motor isn't getting power? This could be a relay issue.

I had dust on the contacts, got a dust off and sprayed the areas and all good... worth a try!

So it goes through the whole process fine, but when it's time for the trunk to close it just sits there fully open. It sounds like the motor is still running but just not moving the trunk. I'll try and clean/lube all necessary parts this weekend.

the same thing happened to me it was bc I had something on one of the sides (to the left or right) of the main trunk space. It won't completely close if something is there.

So when I went back and opened my truck i noticed i had left my portable battery pack on the right side. So i moved out out of the way. A few days later it was a nice day so I went to open the top and all was fine, but when I got home it seemed to struggle a bit. I'm going to order some grease for it soon and see if that helps...

Got this car, the last fall and am just loving it.
Cant wait to drive it more with the top down.
In the process of slowing blacking everything out.

Will get better pics, as I need to take more.

New to me
Had issues. Completely sorted.
All the power tunes and mods short of meth

Initially thinking about keeping it looking stock and dated. Kind of a sleeper attitude.
It's darn quick

I know not many people tune the verts because of the weight penalty

Why not?....
Lots around here, blacked out.
My understanding is that as long as parking lights can be seen or brake light applied can be seen.

I have a thread up of my full suspension build on my E93 335is. Everything in addition to running the lightweight battery from the i3/i8 really transformed the E93 completely. I have been driving the E93 more than my F80 M3 ZCP after the E93 suspension was fully dialed in.

It's Montego Blue, and...it's definitely a chameleon depending on the lighting...and what the iPhone does. It's practically a different color in every picture of the thread I started on her recent upgrades, due to the partly cloudy skies that day.

My girlfriend has a Deep Sea Blue X-1 and it DOES do similar things. Both are really cool colors.

(Sorry about the pictures disappearing. I made a change and screwed up the links. )

This one's more accurate for a partly cloudy shot than the fishing boat shot above (iPhone got a bit carried away in that one). Again, Montego is so sensitive to light and angles that it looks like the side skirts aren't color-matched to the car, but...they are. The M3 sides are at a slightly different angle and flatter in front of the rear wheel well than the stock skirts, which creates this illusion. In person, walking around it, they're a match. (The front and rear bumpers were painted at the same time as the side skirts last week.)
