Very nice, you plan on going to Great Lakes Dragway tomorrow or Wednesday possibly? There's a good chance I will be up there with couple other people. If you can make it, it would be cool to see more E90/E92 N54's on the strip! Not bad I ran a 12.2 @ 113 mph. What was your r/t? |

Same... I've owned two almost trouble free at all - except for the well-known such as those crappy mitsubitchi turbos and the water pump. Occasional leask with all cars have issues - my buddy has a camry with 113k and needs a new transmission... they're automobiles and need maintenance and have issues. What I wouldn't get is a dodge, mitsubitchi, nissan, or any korean made car where they completely fall apart and often need new motors by 120k. PLenty of 335 running around out there with 300k miles and run great... rock solid vehicles.

Mine sits at 172k and it's the most reliable car I've got since I took it out of BMW warranty service at 105k
I do mods as time goes but first took care of all known issues like water pump or old faulty injectors while under warranty (85k miles to 100k). Big mod with hybrid stage 2+ turbo mod and 550i clutch happend at 134k, drove it with around 500hp since then as daily with not a single issue (2 years). Just change oil every 8k to 10k and normal maintnance. On the other hand my brand new Peugeot 308GT in the first year had to go back to the garage for faulty starter motor and had issue with infotainment system. Now it starts making noises when changing gear from 1st to 2nd and it only has 22k on the clock ... It's good on fuel though! |

How did you address your issue? DIY seems like a big job for the N54. |

My engine was just taken apart after 172k miles and cylinders are like new from factory, no scratches, no lip around. I'm getting new rings and head reconditioning. New seals, and all little parts which can fail due to mileage will be replaced. All this because I can do it at very reasonable cost for piece of mind. Things you can do in Poland with the right contacts for under $1.5k (new camchain with tensioners, head rebuild, piston rings and NGK sparks + checking everything else). On top of that I have quite a bit of custom pipe welding done, new coolant radiator and water pump. After breakin period I will get new map to hopefully break 600hp crank on pump fuel. Other than faulty water pump, defective low pressure sensor, battery, fuel pump and leaking methanol push fittings which have all been addressed, it’s simply one of the best engines I have ever had the pleasure to mod.

Honestly have you ever seen a stock supra with good turbo seals let alone one running close to double factory power fully stock, truth is a 29.2 stock 335i is pretty reliable. We're enthusiasts that pick out little tiny issues that the most cars have and honestly we could get to work without breaking down but we sit their looking for problems. My explorer had all kinds of little issues I would never tolerate in my bmw just cause it's a bmw and we have high expectations. I would never retire mreuse rotors on my bmw but as long as my teeth didn't chatter on my truck it was all good. How many of us haven't used radio in over month cause always listening for creaks and groans lmao
