Injector options?

Hi

I'm getting long crank on warm starts, occasional cylinder 1 misfires and occasional bank 2 fuel mix errors, so think I probably have an injector issue. I have replaced plugs and coils already. Low and High Fuel pressure looks OK on the MHD logs. The car is a 2008 e93 and has done 100,000 miles and is probably on original injectors.

The problem is that the car has already cost an arm and a leg with a big list of things I've had to put right since having it less than a year and another $1000+ is not going to go down well at home.

The options seems to be:
- Buy new BMW injectors which look to be at best around $1200.
- Buy used/reconditioned BMW injectors for about half that.
- Aftermarket injectors.

Has anyone had any success with anything other than brand new BMW sourced injectors?

Thanks

Karl.

As far as I know these injectors cannot be reconditioned. You can roll the dice with a set of used low mileage index 12 injectors. Personally I like getting my parts from FCP, take advantage of the lifetime warranty and just be done with it.

I picked up a single injector from from Napa autoparts for about 120 with a coupon code. The napa injectors do not have the index number on them; it looks as if they've been machined off but they do have a bmw symbol on them. I am not going to speculate on the index nor the actual manufacturer but I will say I coded it in and have had absolutely zero issues with I see you're in the UK, not sure if you have Napas over there.

So the injector still showed the numbers to code, just the end where the index number would be was ground off?

The used/reconditioned injectors have nothing but issues. Go with the new 12's. It's worth the cost than having a leaky/failing injector that can cost you thousands from a failure.

Buy new parts from FCP or don't do anything at all.
