sO....

If aftermarket cans don't void a warranty, dont burn up your cats and don't include the flap...

Why would this cause your dealer to give you problems?

I think this is quite a waste of time on the E90's IMO. I tried the mod for a week and just ended up plugging the wire back in. It really doesn't make much of a difference on the sedans I guess it is time to upgrade the exhaust

Did u verify that there is an exhaust flapper on your left muffler? If so and you still can't find the wire, just do the golf tee.

bmw has an aftermarket mufflers , dealer install and it does not have the valve so the back pressure issue seems moot, aia will do the golf t.My dealership offered to get and install Corsa mufflers, no valve here either.

Just did this. Couldn't tell the difference at first but there's a significant increase in loudness, especially when cruising on the highway in 6th gear.

when you first start the car, you should definitely be able to hear an audible difference...also cruising below 3k should be audible a nice low grumble

I Confirm No DTC Error Codes On Mine

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and just got mine 2008 335i E92 Coupe. I just want to shed some light on this mod. I was curious if it will throw any codes out and I was also curious if the drivers side exhaust is locked during cold startup. On mine it was locked. The easy way to check put your hand over the exhaust outlet and feel if it's blowing (driver side) if it is not then you got the valve closed during cold start, hence single exhaust. This is how it was on mine. Next I did the mod in like 60 seconds and I noticed a nice growl, the propre sound for this bimmer. Next I drove it around the block and came back. I hooked up my laptop with Auterra Dyno Scan latest edition to check for any old and any new DTC errors in cars memory and nothing. Everything is empty. So I can confirm that this mod DOES NOT THROW any codes as the rummor goes around. If you think logically, when you upgrade your exhaust the vavle is obviously gone, ya I know that the Actuator is still plugged in but it's not doing anything since the valve is gone with the new exhaust. About side effects, I don't think there is any. I only see improvement as outlined.

- Nice growl
- the turbos spool a little quicker as the exhaust escapes more freely
- Price ( ITS FREE)
- Time it takes to do (60 seconds)
- NO DTC error codes whatso ever (at least not on 2008 335i E92 Coupe) verified using Auterra Dyno Scan.

The only thing I would like to mod is getting rid of the cats and run straight pipes with the stock exhaust using this mod however thats not street legal

I did it 5 days ago with my E93. Nice sound improvement. Especially when the roof is open.

This is not quite correct. It throws a code "exhaust flap is open" or something (I don't have it on me now, but you can see it with the BT tool) but it also says "CEL light will NOT turn on", so it's not a major code. I've had it open for about 7 months now, quite lovin' it, and the last time I went to the dealer, they even updated my software (i.e. they certainly saw the code) and didn't care.

Someone had done this to the loaner 335 I got - I was pleasantly surprised when I went to go do it myself! However, it doesn't sound as deep as my own car for some reason.

I will doubble check but if there is a code it has to be informational only. Anyway, my 335i is getting louder especially at 3000 rpm, the sound is just unbelivable sounds like I have a v12 really a head turner when I step on the gas. I can't believe they closed exhaust up but I guess for some people it might be too loud at crousing speed, personally I love it! And I was going to spend ~ 800 on a exhaust just to make it sound better hahahaha, thanks for posting this mod!

If you like that, go try it in a tunnel with the sunroof open. Even better

So I checked again and I can't find any codes or info for this actuator. Attached are the pics from Auterra Dyno Scan. Maybe auterra doesn't detect it but I'm certain if there was a code stored in computers memory then it would show up as I have tested many cars with this software. Anyway I thought I just post this.

guys car goes slower with this mod on low rpms, so i removed that mod and better to buy aftermarket exhaust instead of this, or ask your dealer to remove it correctly if u just want a sound not performance
