You may want to query TCM next time, not tranny ECU. TCM stands for transmission control module.

The TCM is located within the transmission.

As far as I'm aware, on the 6L45 it's located in the transmission itself, immersed in oil, as most are these days.

Nevermind. I see you have the ZF6.

Still in the trans.

Are you having problem with the transmission?

The TCM is now in the transmission, part of the "valve body". ZF calls it "mechatronic" unit, and GM, which is basically a cheapened ZF clone, calls it TEHCM (transmission electro-hydrolic control module).

The squarish thing on the bottom should be the CPU itself. The second picture looks a little different and may be on a FWD unit, the silver case I think would be the 32-bit CPU.

On the ZF6HP19 the "EGS" is in the transmission, bolted to the top of the valve body.

And I guess that silver square would be the CPU itself for the ZF unit:

The ECU itself is a small hermetically sealed unit in the center of that mass of plastic housing.
