Rock Auto DCT Service Kit Quality??

greetings - need your wisdom on this:

preparing for service of the 7 speed dct in my 2013 335is.

can you tell me any differences between the "bmw oem" and the "rein" service kit parts?

i DO NOT want to get this wrong; this transmission is nearly unobtanium and is VERY expensive to address if it goes wrong.

Turner Motorsport BMW OEM Service Kit (price includes 6 liters of fluid):$906 https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...t-service-kit/

Rock Auto Rein Service Kit (price includes 6 liters of fluid): $427 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=451&jsn=451

is the rein kit equal to the bmw oem kit in parts quality??

thanks

You get what you pay for when it comes to rock auto stuff. Don't get me wrong I have ordered a lot from them for every vehicle I've owned but nothing to do with the transmission or engine for my BMW. Have you priced out a kit from FCP? They just had a sale you could have snagged 10% off. Depending on mileage and condition of fluid, I would probably hold off until they have another sale around Thanksgiving. At least through FCP, you get the customer service and lifetime parts replacement to back up the price. Plus you know its for sure the correct parts.

Rein reboxes other manufacturer's parts. Sometimes you get lucky and they're the same as OE.

It looks like the filters in the Rein kit are Filtertek and Getrag, which are OE according to FCP:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...getrag-sp02230
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ag-28107842828

The pan is hard to tell, but it looks like it has the same markings as the OE Getrag pan: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...and-drain-plug

What's weird is that despite being "OE" the Getrag/Filtertek stuff is made in China, while the BMW branded parts are made in Germany.

FCP Euro's comprehensive service kit for the 2013 335is n54 dct transmission lists a number of parts in the kit....one of them is the oil pump filter which states "part may not fit" and when you click and review the list of cars it does fit, it does not include my car:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ag-28107850148

i went to turner motorsport's site and their comprehensive service kit's oil pump filter part # ends in "2828" and it states it fits my car.

i sent a detailed note to fcp euro for clarification.

any thoughts??

Buy both kits. Compare them in person and return the one you don’t like. It’s the only way. I wouldn’t be surprised to find they’re the same stuff in different boxes.

I did this when comparing the OE and Uro brand valve cover. Could not tell them apart, but the $500 price difference was very noticeable.
