Alcantara dashboard re-trim help please
I have a spare piece of interior trim(long piece with the cupholders) and have purchased some alcantara type material which has a cloth backing.
What adhesive shall I use and any tips to get it around the corners and in the awkward areas? I have some spray glue left over from a parcel shelf I did many years ago but not sure it will be good in the tight areas. |

I covered my trim with leather and just used spray contact adhesive. Once the leather was in place I used electrical tape to hold the edges and corners tight for a few hours before trimming.

Cut it larger and trim it once firmly stuck. Any areas that required sticking to curves or edges I taped to ensure they stuck to the curve. Leave the tape in place overnight if you can or at least a couple of hours if you're in a hurry.

Finally done, couldn't get the right adhesive so I will try again if this doesn't last very long.
Pretty happy with the result and will try the center console next. |

Ive purchased that stuff before when I did the dash on my X5. The colour wore out after a while - although is dependant on factors such as sunlight and how often it gets touched...

Agree sunlight plays a huge factor on anything even the best stuff. If I redo it with better adhesive I might spray a protector layer on top to help.
