E90 Logic 7 issue
hello, I have a 2006 bmw 330i e90 with the logic 7 system (no iDrive though) and recently my audio would cut off and just not function at times. Usually after a few minutes of driving with the AC on, it would fix itself. However, the issues gotten worse and now its to the point where no audio comes out regardless if what I do. Radio is silent and the aux makes this strange noise.
I posted this on the bmw subreddit and wasn't able to get much help, here's the link to the post since it contains a video of the issue. https://www.reddit.com/r/BmwTech/com...m_source=share Any help is appreciated! Its worth noting that I also recently replaced the amp in hopes of solving this but it did not do anything. |

The first thing to do on these cars no matter what problems you
have is to check the battery voltage. A low battery can cause all kinds of false error's There is something call the IBS Inteligent Battery System that checks the state of charge on the battery and if it is low it can start turning off stuff it deems unnecessary to keep the car running and one of those is the the stereo. Read about the IBS in the first electrical pdf. electical e90 pdf http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.cGU&cad=rja http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU If you replaced the amp with a newer one it may not be programmed correctly to interface with your system . Did it go from intermittent to solid when you replaced it? Check the battery and try putting a slow full charge on it to see if things change. Also it's a good idea to get a diagnostic and coding setup and learn to use it. I recently got a new battery (coded it using Carly) and I just verified that its voltage is fine.
I did notice one wire near the battery compartment, coming off the positive end, is disconnected (it always has been disconnected, never knew what it was for) I do not think my previous amp had any issues anyways, but the new amp was used from another car of the same build and audio system. The yellow light inside is stable. Changing the amp made no difference to the issue. I have also verified the loop is closed by checking the diagnostic port under the dash, which does have a red light getting to it. My gut tells me the head unit is faulty, but it seems to function fine (turns on, i can select different options, sends the fiber optic signal, etc), but maybe its some internal error? I do recall the issue used to be worst during the peak heat hours, and would correct itself as my cars cabin cooled down, but now it simply doesnt want to correct itself anymore. |

I'd also like to add that I discovered fuse #23 (described online as "Video system/Satellite digital audio receiver control unit") was blown. I replaced it hoping it would fix my issue, but it changed nothing.

I would try reseating the Head Unit connector.
Pro Radio or Idrive Head Unit ? There is a shipping wire that keeps the car in a low energy state when shipping that is always disconnected. |
