now the motor move so the DME is happy but there are no flaps.

at 80k miles i got about a third of a cup of carbon out of the manifold and egr which really wasn't much given the size of the thing!

another strange thing on these cars, the rear brakes are bigger then the front!
Andy I'm currently getting a plausibility error for my swirflaps on my n57 325d, so I will be removing them do I just remove the flaps off the spindle and refit everything back up together? With new seals of course.

I removed the flaps and the spindle, the motor and linkage assemble are the “plug”
Will make sense once you take them off. The spindle can be tricky to get out, it’s square shaped.

Thanks for you're response that's much clear now, have you had any downsides or upsides of doing them? Assuming you changed the intake manifold seal aswell? Do you still get an error when scanning the car with a diagnostic machine? Since they are no longer in place? Appreciate your response it's been a massive help!

i didnt notice a single difference in running or power tbh. mines an Auto if it makes any difference.

the stored code was there until i cleared it, then it never came back, the DME thinks it moving the swirl flaps and the motor still moves (i guess) but because it can move without restriction its happy and the car is non the wiser to it

Mines also an Auto, was just asking to see if there was any difference not that fussed along as it doesn't loose power or prevent the dpf from regeneration.

Think I might follow this procedure as its tried & tested, it's now time to find decent mechanic who's up for the challenge.
