I'm intertested to know why. Every BWM indy I've spoken to says there is no point in changing coils preventively until they fail...

Hmmm. In the UK, a set of six OEM Delphi coils for my car is nealry $400. I wouldn't call that 'fairly inexpensive'...

My 1st coil went at 287,000 miles. I replaced all 6 at that time. I bought BMW OE coils (Delphi) at a good price from my local dealer. The replacements are now sitting at 84,000 miles. Not a peep from any of them since.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I think there's a notion that if you have original Bosch coils, they may not be as reliable as either current Bosch or Delphi coils.

It not only covers maintenance schedule, but advice about each system. For instance, he discusses that the alternator brushes will wear down around 100k miles and cause odd troubles - lots of excellent information. |

My water pump went out at 5AM this morning. I was on the interstate and it was 27 degrees.
