I doubt they would support an aftermarket part they didn't supply. But it wouldn't hurt if it's an OEM part.

Worse case scenario is they have to give you the one on record. Then you just sell the airbag which is worth quite a bit.

I guess I'll find out when I visit the dealer next time. Thanks.
It's the sport steering wheel with paddles (OEM) that I was planning on getting.

Has anyone got an airbag recall, but their airbag has already deployed?

Would they still replace a deployed airbag that was under recall but never remedied?

If it didn't shoot out shrapnel, why would they?

It's under recall because it might harm someone and there's no way of knowing unless it's deployed. If it's been used and it didn't harm anyone, why would they replace it?

bsmoov wants a free airbag

I also found out the recall applies to sport airbag not for the standard one

Can anyone tell me what is the inflator for the new airbag?

I bought an airbag that has PSDI-5 inflator made in 2016

I thought PSDI-5 is also bad as well

I wish I had gone with this philosophy. I took mine in for the recall repair last June. I have driven the car about 3000 miles since and now the airbag indicator light is on. I took it in to have it checked out and BMW Seattle service says it is totally unrelated to the recall repair and that it is the Control Module that needs to be replaced...for $1810.00!!!
No joke. Sure is hard to accept that it is all coincidental...especially since I have owned the car for 15 years without issue.

I'd like to know what ever happened to the class action settlement where checks were to go out 1/31/19 and no later. I got bupkis and someone said they got $50. If $50 gtfoh and I don't care lol I thought it would be enough for a new 992!
