07 328xi Clicking after starter replacement -intake manifold
Hi Team,
So, I need some thoughts/advice/opinions I had to replace my starter this last weekend. Which as I'm sure you know (or not) you have to remove the intake manifold. I got the starter in and then put everything back together and fired it up.... long crank and loud ticking with a check engine light. I accidentally unplugged the crank sensor. I checked my work and found the disconnected crank sensor. I plugged it back in, cleared the CEL and started her up. She started right up. However now I can hear a ticking in the engine and it sounds like it is coming from the intake manifold. Once the engine warms up the ticking goes away, or if I drive it hard it will go away. I do recall hearing somewhat of a tick normally but this just seems louder than usual. I'm also wondering if it just sounds louder than normal because my engine is somewhat naked without all the plastic engine covering. I put the plastic covering over the valve cover gasket but not the plastic covering up at the very top by the windshield wipers. I hit up YouTube and listened to the various videos there, hard to say if I'm hearing the same sound or not. Additional thoughts: vacuum leak? I did remove the brake booster vacuum hose... would that do this? Just thinking/wondering Thoughts? Thanks in advance Harri Last edited by harrimann; 10-10-2019 at 03:10 PM.. Reason: Ideas.... |
