Coilover Springrates
So IV been deciding between Bilstein b12 and and a set of bc coilovers from fcp euro. Even though they will be a little less comfortable, I I think I've decided to go bc since they are so adjustable and have lifetime warranty through fcp.
What spring rate should I get for a daily with some spirited driving? Standard for bc is 448/672 (8k/12k). I saw that kw street comforts are 276/572, so I was thinking maybe I could get closer to the comfort of more expensive coilovers by getting the same spring rates. Thoughts? For reference. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235797 I know the B12 is the safer bet of the 2, but after reading lots of good/bad reviews of BC, i think ill wager that they do what i am looking for. Not looking for pillow suspension that doesnt feel anything, but just something that gives a good mix of performance and comfort. |

I'd definitely go closer to what KW are spec'ing, although the BC may bottom out with that soft of a spring on the front. I'd say do a 6k front and 12k rear.
As standard most coilovers are unbalanced because the rear is way too soft compared to the front. KWs looks pretty good to me in regards to the ratio. |

3k/10k or 4k/13k.
If you are not tracking the car, you want to keep a 1 to 3.2 ratio between the front and rear. Anything less than a 1 to 3 ratio is going to give you a shitty ride around town. The rear spring wil not be able to rebound fast enough to catch up with the front spring when you go over a bump. Look up "Flat ride" |

I have had the BC racing Coilovers extreme low kit on my car since they came out with it. I believe I was one of the 1st to get them actually if not 1st few. I can tell you from driving on them for a good 4-5 years (only summer during the summer months here in Canada mind you) I have never had a issue with them once. they are great for the price and what I was looking for was to get as low as possible which this out did. I also run very aggressive and max out specs for wheels and negative camber on these cars and without issue. my spring rates are all custom and had new springs made because of how aggressive I run so it's not for comfort definitely |

I ended up going with bc. Talked to bc chat support and decided to stick with the default rates. If it's not what I want, I'll look into springs.
Can't wait to get them installed |

I went with 8k/12k on my Fortunes, and they were not proper for the chassis. Front was too stiff (phrasing) and the rear was too bouncy, due to pogo effect. I'd keep the rear spring rate, but drop the front to a 4-6k.

I haven't personally felt a 3x stiffer spring, so whilst I understand the theory I wouldn't want to recommend one that stiff.
