not sure why COBB really recommends an upgraded intake for stage 2+, if intakes weren't a definite improvement.

Meh, I run a DCI and aside from the sound I see no benefit. It actually pisses me off how often I have to clean it. Might just have to get the CAI and hope NYC doesnt get hit with terential rain.

Here is a test done by Former_Boosted_IS to show the advantages of a STETT CAI over traditional DCI's. On top of reduced AIT's, it looks much better in the engine bay

+1, OK this is what I watched. I couldn't remember where I saw the test.

Nothing against FBIS (great dude, great reviews), but Terry's DCI Test was completely based off of data. I do agree a DCI looks cheap in the engine bay (especially with the two K&N filters just sitting there), the DCI actually had the best airflow properties.

With turbo'd cars, the Intake should focus on mass quantity of airflow while the FMIC (or Meth) focus on IAT Reduction

Here is the list of the BMW COBB Tuning Facilities in CA: http://www.cobbtuning.com/Domestic-P...BMW-California

COBB So Cal (my mistake) is in Fountain Valley, but you've got FSR Motorsports in Montclair & HG Motorsports in San Diego. If you're concerned about their "qualifications", you can just call up the COBB So Cal Office & ask for their take on the BMW Tuners at those facilities.

I developed a method to install AccessPort Manager on Windows 8:

1. Restart the computer with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled, here is how:
https://laslow.net/2012/03/14/disabl...-in-windows-8/

2. Get the latest AP Manager from Cobb (APManagerSetup.exe) open it using 7-Zip (www.7-zip.org) and extract all the files from it. One of the files will be APDriverInstall.exe

3. Right click on APDriverInstall.exe, go to Compatibility tab and select Windows 7.

4. Run APDriverInstall.exe. Click "Install Anyway" to all warnings.

5. Run APManagerSetup.exe and install the AP Manager. Also click "Install Anyway" to all potential warnings.

6. Connect the Cobb, wait 30 seconds, then start AP Manager. It should now see the Cobb AP device.

7. Restart the computer in order to exit the driver signature enforcement disabling mode. The AP Manager should still work (works for me), but if not, you must enter the Driver Signature Enforcement mode every time you want to run the AP Manager.

Awesome work, man. Hopefully Cobb can get the AP manager to work on 8 like it does on 7 and not require all those steps.

Does anyones AP read unusually high ECT's?

When I plug the thing in it reads near 100 degrees F literally after starting the car (it's 100% cool, and ambient is ~75f).

Just curious. It also reads ~210 F when up to temp. Just seems a little high.

What are some symptoms i can look for if getting boost oscillations? I was on Stage 1 Sport, charge pipe broke at clamp, wondering if this was a contributing factor or if it was just the stock CP's time to give.

I never let off the throttle when it gave, had pedal all the way to the floor, so i'm doubting it was a high pressure spike when letting off. Maybe unless the car pulled timing, closed plate, and that caused a spike...? Not sure. Trying to figure out if the tune was related outside of the obvious higher boost levels from the tune. Im still learning!

Also, what's the boost cap on S1 sport?

Cobb is load based and boost cap is for all cobb maps 18.5 psi.
your pipe gave up because it probably was crappy to begin with it. There are tons of people running stage 3 boost levels and power with stock chargepipe without any issues.

I guess u mean "people....with stock chargepipes", not downpipes.

Ya, I was guessing it wasn't tune related (besides obvious increased boost levels) but just wanted to be sure. I've heard of tons of pipes going with diff tunes, so I guess the proof is in the pudding. Going to give stock pipe one more go

One more question:

When charge pipe blew, threw about 3-4 codes. I did NOT use AP to clear the codes, or ever use AP to clear any codes since i installed it (was only a day).

I then uninstalled cobb. I am assuming from my reading that all tuner codes will be cleared from uninstall, even though i didnt use AP to manually clear any codes before uninstall?

correct all codes are deleted after uninstall. There are NO tuner codes though... only the codes of the CP.
