Transmission updated, now shifts at 6000rpm????

I recently updated the transmission software on my 328xi after I changed the transmission fluid and filter. After the update and the adaptation reset, 1st gear shifts at 6000rpm and 2nd gear shifts at 6500 rpm and so on. Original redline was about 6800-6900.

Transmission: GS1912 (GM transmission)

How do I know WHICH ZB-number is for E90?

What was your original ZB, and which ZB did you flash?

This is as far as I could get tonight.

Looking at the Kmm_ATSH.txt file there are four Auto gearbox ZB numbers for the PK73.

7584037--GKE 215
7618583--GKE 215

7585087--GM1912
7634248--GM1212

Assuming yours is a GM as you stated, it's one of the later two. I'm not good enough to know which.

I will give it a shot tomorrow. But let say I flash it to the 7634248.
Current: 7634252

Is this the correct steps?

1. F1 Comfort mode
2. F1 Enter ZUSB "7634252", Choose assembly identification number/integration position, ECU family "GM1912" ZB number "7634248"
3. Update ZUSB "GM1912"
4. Enter Vin
5. F8 Done
6. F3 Prog. ZB-Update

Will this update fix the typical jerky shifting behavior of a 328xi? Mine is bone dry stock and I do not like the way it shifts.

What software you you using to update the transmission software? ISTA/P? Or something simpler, like INPA?

I also read something about resetting adaptations. Will that work or at least make things somewhat better?

What about removing the clutch release valve? It might make shifting faster (but perhaps making it a bit more jerky as well as a result.) Has anybody done that?

Interesting... when I changed my fluid back in 2013 I did not update my transmission software or at least did not know I had to do one. All went fine but recently I have a minor jerky shifting when going from 1st to 2nd only. Mine is ZF though...

Don't let your fluid get older than 60,000 miles and only do adaption resets on a warm transmission. Try to follow the ZF adaption procedure. Several copies are available on-line.

The ZF programs did not change that much between versions. If the trans is bumping more than usual, it's hardware related. The ZF6HP19 is pretty tough but the fluid needs to be changed on a regular bases.

Sounds about right. I did so much flashing that I always had the UIF turned off and therefor did not need to flash the VIN.
