Ahh I love that place. When I bought my 335i in melbourne that's where I stopped overnight driving up the princes hwy.
I stayed at the big 4 holiday park which had awesome beach views and it was quite cheap, and I also had the best lamb shanks of my life at the local pub! |

Sounds like a great idea for a combined Sydney + Melbourne forum meet/drive/adventure!

I made some spare time today instead of working on the house.
Twenza hooked me up with some tyre goo to replace the BMW goo in the mobility kit as I bought that way back in 2012 when I 1st bought my car and ditched the RFT's! Apparentley it hardens after 4 years and has to be replaced. I had some continental tyre goo that had set like a rock from a previous car, but the BMW goo still looked OK when I checked it (the container is still malleable) Twenza reccomended an alternative (gardx) to the BMW mobility tyre goo, as with the BMW stuff once you use it you essentially have to replace the tyre, whereas with this alternative product the tyre shop can save the tyre and it was about $18 v's $60 odd for the BMW stuff: BMW goo had a manufacture date of 2010: GardX can just fits in the mobility kit case... (its slightly longer than the BMW goo container..) I'm thinking I might use the BMW goo in my trolley to stop the tyres from going flat? |

I had removed my roof rails a few weeks ago to have my carbon fibre roof wrap removed and a few of the clips were broken.
Surprisingly BMW supply these (I had assumed a new roof rail would have to be purchased) and they were literally about $1-2 each... They're quite brittle, I just used a stanley knife and cut two slits in them which then allowed me to split the clip in two for ease of removal and then just used a trim removal tool to exert pressure on the clip to snap the new clip into place part #'s White clip: blue clip: Cut slits in clip snap new clip into place I'm sure the roof rails would have held in place as is with a few broken clips, albeit shit like this bugs me as I know they're broken and it always annoys me when working on a car when you remove parts and find things like stripped bolts, missing washers, broken clips etc etc |

Unfortunately it accidentally got damaged due to staining.
Mike at carbon demon didnt like the wrap and reckoned it may tear etc but because the film is so thick and the gue quite weak it was really easy to remove so in hindsight I should have just rewrapped it with the VVIVID8 CF wrap most likely... Also I would have had to order it from the USA and wait, whereas being gloss black mike had it in stock ready to go. |

E92 Windscreen rubber moulding replacement.
Part # DIY guides http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=834038 I used a soft faced mallet and used the end of the handle to push and lever it into place and eventually used short blows with a rag over the moulding to get the trim to seat Removed the roof rails and windscreen moulding: Lots of grime and adhesive goo left over from the old moulding Started cleaning the glass (at the top of the image) adhesive goo I soaked all of the goo in some bug n tar remover (you can use preen or any laundry stain remover spray to remove adhesive goo - a cheap handy tip!) and let it soak and then scrape it off After it was all removed I washed the car to remove all the grime in the sills etc and it needed a wash anyway. I blew any trace of moisture out and then wiped it with a dry towel: clean windscreen sills ready for the new trim moulding New trim ready for fitting (leave the adhesive strip backings on - thankfully I read a DIY guide prior which noted this) Start from the windscreen corner. For some reason it didnt want to start from the passenger side (turned out to be a pain in the end also!) so I started from the drivers side and it popped in straight away on that side its tedious work getting the moulding in on top of the windscreen, most DIY guides didn;t mention much about this or any tips (some guy used a wooden toothpick christ knows how it takes a lot of force to get it to adequately seat into place) I used my mallet like so and just levered it and hit my hand on it trying to force the moulding in (eventually I used short blows with the soft face hammer to complete the task in frustration! obviously you cant go walloping into it as you could potentially crack your windscreen!) When you get to the end pull the trim towards you so the internal metal spine doesn't twist with one hand, and hammer/lever trim into position Once the top is done, do the two sides (these are very easy to do!) Moulding was a bit wavy on the side dont worry this will flatten out when you remove the adhesive backing tape, and work the moulding into position and also pull and stretch it out: I used a plastic gyprock spatula tool (a credit card would also suffice) to work the sides of the moulding into place You may have to do some final pulling stretching to get everything seated right, once you're happy remove the back tape and as you remove the tape with one hand, use your other hand to seat the moulding into place to ensure the adhesive comes into contact and adheres to the windscreen sill) Happy days a fresh new windscreen mould! The original moulding wasn't that bad, but it did get damaged a little bit when I 1st wrapped the car as they had to lift the adhesive backing.. It's the little details like this which make a nice car look neat Next I'll seal the moulding using dodo juice supernatural trim sealant Last edited by DR-JEKL; 04-25-2016 at 06:36 AM.. |

Have you installed the windscreen rubber yet? Mine has a big cut in it, I might get one if it's easy

It took me 2-3 hrs as I removed every bit of goo left behind from the original mould, washed the car to remove all dirt etc then prepped area by wiping with alchohol to ensure the new moulding adhesive would adequately stick. The trim is tricky to get it seated above the windscreen, as the moulding has a metal spine which twists and distorts as you go. If it twists it makes it difficult to seat as it wont go down into the groove. Ideally you would have two people, one to hold the moulding and pull it to ensure the metal spine wont twist and you could just pop it into place a lot easier... I did the rear windscreen seal and was a PITA I failed to let the new seal form in the original shape so when I tried to install I had to pull and tug which caused a rip in the corners lol so I would recommend take a hair dryer to the seal
