E90 transmission service
I have a 2011 BMW 328i n51 and want to do a transmission service. I looked the VIN in real oem to see which transmission I have and according to them it is the GA6L45R.
I looked up fcp and they have a kit for service: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...24117593565kt1 the transmission fluid is not OE and neither is the oil pan gasket. I was wondering why that is as I wanted to have all of them OE. Do you know which will be the OE parts for the fluid and gasket so I can get them? |

Corteco is fine. Some really like Redline fluids, but I have been using Valvoline Maxlife ATF at about $26/gallon at Wally World.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Valvoline...-1-GA/15125768 If you want everything OE, get the gasket and fluid from Silver Spring BMW. 6L45 is a GM transmission, I think aftermarket parts are just fine. If that was a ZF then I would agree go OE. https://www.getbmwparts.com/ As far as aftermarket filter and gasket go, https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=8600&jsn=431 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=8612&jsn=428 Or an aftermarket kit: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=8600&jsn=433 If you need a pan drain bolt, GM has a steel one, see the DIY. 6L45 service DIY: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=573490 |

Recently replaced mine (modded 2007 335i) with Valvoline Maxlife ATF with no issues after reading numerous successes using the same product.
