I love that show. Do you think that Dave has Kevin and his crew do a little more than slap a manual knob on his clients cars? Odds are they make sure the car doesn't leak oil or coolant before they proceed with mods.

That is the most annoying thing about idiots. They ask people and the moment they don't hear what they want they say "it's my body, I'll do what I want!" Ok, then stop asking.

Considering he didn't ask if he should/what the general consensus was,but rather would it work, you seem to resemble your comment.

I don't see this as a dumb idea at all, like I said it's his choice let him do what he wants. Me personally will never put a dct shifter on a regular automatic car, that's worse then a manual looking shifter.

I still don't understand what the issue is. He's didn't see anything about putting an H pattern sticker on it. So it's just a matter of shape and material. Given the wide array of designs from all manufacturers, there's only a perceived design for manual vs automatic

I'm putting a macht schnell ms97 on my auto. Is it meant for manuals? Yes. Do I care? Absolutely not lol. I hate the look of the stock gear selectors. The performance one is nice but then I'd have to buy other alcantara bits just to match it. I think the ms97 is a good compromise. I think its a bit more sporty but doesn't quite scream "manual wannabe."

Here's a pic of it on a manual..

I tried some stupid stuff on my first car (or two) and learned a lot, including how stupid it all was. I've tried some stupid things even in my old age with the e90. Here's my Bimmian-style shifter phase what a POS lol: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=872289

I finally settled on the original shifter with a wrap and an alcantara boot. Does it look like a manual? Does the blue look like a clown car? Is the sunglass-ashtray retrofit ricer? Do I care? Do you care?

My E36 is pristine original. So is my E82. The E90 is just fun to play around with. These are basically kid cars now - so I say try stuff and learn.

What adapter would I be looking at getting or is it even possible? Also has anyone ever had the problem with accidentally going into reverse while driving?

So you want to put a shifter knob like this on your auto car? Sounds like a stupid idea....but if you like it, go for it.

I can't see it "feeling better", but it sure will make it look like a manual, and come on...don't try to fool anyone, that's what you really want.

You do you

Reminds me of a guy I knew that would lift his foot off the gas every time he shifted on his DCT

Or the guys that take the front shocks off of their car and use the gas on and off to get it bouncing....to try to make it look like they have hydraulics on it

When you are a kid you do some crazy stuff.....ha!

all about the wording.

OP shouldn't have use the words 'manual and Shift'.
You don't shift an automatic, so no shift knob here

The question should have been ' how I can get a better looking automatic selector knob'

At least you could argue that could be a creature of habit. My newest bike has a quick shifter and whatnot and I still catch myself pissing it off by lifting off the throttle.
