Rear Wheel Bearing Mechanic in NJ

Hello all..unfortunately I'm another one with bad wheel bearings (rear)

. I am looking to see if anyone knows of a good reputable mechanic around South Jersey that i can take this to that is not going to charge me over $600

.

I already have the parts (bearings, nuts, and retaining ring) I would like to know which side goes in first. I bought the F.A.G bearings, black side and red side. Which goes IN towards the hub?

What is the symptom of this problem? I'm quite curious, never heard of this so far. I might have an issue.

Well hard to explain...but you would hear a noise something like "wob wob wob" as you're driving. Pitch will increase the faster you go. At least that's how i'm hearing it. Two different mechanics and other people that have replaced bearings have told me that that's the issue.

When replacing the bearing the wider chamfer side goes into the hub. Its subtle to see but if you eye up the bearing its pretty obvious.

The chamfer side...hmmm well i guess i can see it a bit. That would make it the RED side of the bearing..with the groove cut into it. So that side would go in first?

Make sure you know which side it is for sure first off. You can tell by taking a curve if it gets louder when you take a left it's your right bearing and the opposite for the other side.

It's easy to diy with this kit, just make sure you properly support the bearing when pressing by using the right disc, you only want to make contact with the outer race when pressing the bearing in. Then support the inner race when pressing the hub in. The contour of the hub should match the inner race of the bearing so it's pretty easy to figure out how it all fits together in there. If you're even a little mechanically inclined this is a cake job, it just takes a lot of force so bring an impact and/or breaker bar.

What type of work does he do? Bodywork as well? I can use him for future use.

He does almost all mechanical work he mostly works on bmw Mercedes . No body work though. If you're south jersey I heard Coleman autobody is good they have a good reputation on the forums

Ok thanks. Yea that's a dealer if i'm not mistaking. I guess i'll look into it. Where in North Jersey is that mechanic ?

Good luck, I paid about $200 labor to get one bearing replaced.

theyre not a dealer as far as i know lol. its located in elmwood park,nj

About to go do this today, maybe tomorrow. F.A.G bearings, with a black and red side.

Just making sure, press it on with the black side being inboard next to the speed sensor terminal and the red side is outboard next to the c-clip?

OK, this was pretty informative, except it seemed like he was saying the color of the side doesn't indicate anything
