Clear Bra Paint Protection Perth

Hi Guys

Have any of you good people had a clear bra installed on your BMW in Perth and could recommend a particular product and installer? I have read a reasonable amount about 3M and what they produce.

I was looking at having the whole front bumper, bonnet and front side panels done, along with the A pillars and mirror backs.

Do you think it is a good investment - looking at protecting car from the crap thrown up whilst driving along the Freeway.

Appreciate your guidance and feedback.

Thanks

I've used it for years on many cars, it protects against the fine chips, but still can't stop the harder hits. Well worth it though.

For PFP (Paint Film Protection) I use Xpel. The product is available in matte or gloss and life expectancy is about 10 years. For motorcycles I purchase pre-cut direct from the USA and install it myself. I understand that in Australia that it can't be sold in a retail environment but in North America no such limitations are invoked.

In WA there are no authorised installers. However I know Mad Inc. who operate out of the Car Care Myaree location do install Xpel. I haven't personally used this business as they have a four week wait but I have seen the quality of workmanship and also they use the correct Xpel gel for installation.

Other installers are the window tinting workshops. Again they don't want to install pre-cut template material or work with motorcycles so I never use them but if you search you will find the recommended installers for vehicles.

If you research 3M versus Xpel and make your own informed opinion.

Can’t tell, new PPF technology is pretty damn great.

Looks glossy and deep, and self heals minor scratches

Thanks EB I’m getting the front end panels replaced and painted. Might be worth getting this done before installing. Where can you get this or do you need to take to a specialist?

When installed using a bulk roll the edge of the material is folded back underneath the panel so any visible edge lines are kept to an absolute minimum. A lot of 4WD vehicles have this applied and I have seen the more consciousness remove door handles, trim and window sill clips so it can be folded back underneath.

With pre-cut template material you have a visible edge as no extra material is provided for overlap. The edge can be seen depending on light and viewing angle however it is in no way aesthetically displeasing.

For a vehicle I would recommend an installer as the more hands the better. However today a friend and I did a motorcycle in two hours and most installers will baulk at motorcycles because of panel curvature and the difficulty.

I would find a pro to do it.

I think you need to wait 3 months for the new paint to gas out before film can be applied, but i could be wrong, maybe newer paint can be gassed out faster or new PPF lets it gas out.

Its a good idea to get it protected though

Thank you for your wise advice it is much appreciated.

Do you have the contact details of the Myaree place as I can't seem to easily find it with Google.

Thanks again...

AFAIK the latest and greatest tech is the sprayable PPF.

There are no visible edges on the panels

I've seen a few cars with it now PPF and it does look good. Seems like a great idea. Wished I'd done my Audi all those years ago. It is pretty much peppered low on the bumper.
