K&N Apollo - thoughts?
So as mentioned in the airbox mod thread.
What do you guys think of the K&N Apollo, given you can mount it to look like Ingen or AFE and route the air pipe into the Kidney collector or south by the lower air ducts? Here it is on the 335i as a Mr.5 intake / Dinnan air solution http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8762970 other images:

I had it on and my check engine light when on, I loved the sound of it, but I called k&n to see why the light was on and it said that its not made for my car, but for the diesel lol

K&N Apollo alone needs a MAF mount of some kind, otherwise there are check engine lights.

Went to autozone got some tubing and a lot of clamps. did not fit good at all. It was really a waste of time just to find out I had to take it off. Ghetto rigged as fuck but I suppose if you do it properly it would be better, but I'm pretty sure it's only for a diesel

i was also checking this out, im curious if anyone will throw this on ? i was gonna go for more of "blurple" style (velocity stack onto an airbox or just filter) it seems cheaper to build than buying the k&n apolo kit

you are probably right.
Apollo needs a MAF mount and anyway u dice it the cost will be @$150 because you will need the mounting bracket and silicone transition pipes from K&N... I think i only like the look of it

Actually, my buddy created his own velocity stack using RV tubing (to drain the bathroom) and it only cost around 12 bucks for a 12 ft. Tube. IIRC, he hot glued a velocity cone on it and brought the tubing to his stock air box and total, it only cost him 20 total with the fitting to hold it onto the airbox
