DIY: E92 Headlight Removal

Here is a handy guide to removing the headlights on an e92. I do not take credit for this, it was found on precision race works website while I was trying to find a guide to remove my headlights. This guide is for installing the led rings, but it includes a good headlight removal guide. I thought this guide was a little easier for someone who has never done this before or doesn't want to go buy tools to fit into the tight space under the headlight. Using this guide I was able to have the bumper and headlights off in 45 mins. If this is not allowed I can delete.

Just removed my headlights and this was the most useful guide I could find. For 335s with the oil cooler, there is a bit more work you have to do. You have to take off the passenger side wheel and wheel liner. You also have to unbolt the three bolts holding the oil cooler in order to remove the clamp holding the headlight. There’s no room to work if you don’t do this. There’s way more room to work on the driver side. All I had to do was jack the car up a little to increase the wheel gap.

My car is also equipped with headlight washers. I couldn’t figure out how to remove the headlight washers from the headlight bracket so I left them on the bracket and disconnected the lines. Unfortunately this was very messy because as soon as I disconnected the lines, washer fluid started pouring out.

I didn’t have to remove my oil cooler I just pulled down the little arms while using a screw driver to pry at the clip. You can also squeez a little folding torx set in and loosen/tighten the bolts to make the arms rotate easier.

Did you get to it under the car or something? I wasn't seeing any real space to get to it.

I should have checked this before I removed the headlight bracket, but how much slack does that arm have from the factory? When I reinstalled the bracket, I tightened the t-30 very slightly to allow the arm to move up and down. Did you do the same or did you completely tighten it to the point where the arm can't move? Also, are the arms headlight specific or do they fit on either headlight?

Holy hell that clip is hard to remove if you have an oil cooler. literally no room to work with. I've taken off my headlights a few times and each time this little clip is something I dread. .

Rest is easy
