Best program to code and diagnose
Hello all just bought my first Bmw got a 2011 335 xdrive with 6 speed manual. I am coming from the V.A.G community for the past 13 years and always used vagcom for everything. I was wondering if anyone know what is most comparable to vagcom or as easy to use as vagcom thanks in advance!

If you want canned programming and diagnostics
bimmergeeks pro tool on a phone. Not as powerful as what I mentioned but the best of it's type. And Bimmergeeks is always adding stuff and it's not a subscription service. |

The coding is really separate from diagnostics .
The Standard tools suite consists of several programs some of which have some overlap for coding. These are not all in one programs but they are the most powerful programs Standard Tools suite is a set of BMW engineering tools. Contains the following programs. Inpa is diagnostics Ncsexpert is used for coding by most people here Winkfp used for updating the software on a module by module basis. Tool32 used for executing base level procedures. This is really a close to the bit level manipulation. Ista D is a high level diagnostic program used for years by the Dealerships for repair. Advantage is all English Searchable database online shop manual with guided trouble shooting. These are well described in the links I gave you. If you are not semi competent on PC's or not technical you probably should get something like bimmergeeks pro tools. |

It sounds like Ista d is the closest to what I'm looking for then. I've always had early 2000 vw's and Audi that didn't need some computer updates or anything like that. Guess I just need to do a lot of reading to learn and trial and error with these programs. Thanks again for the helpful information. I am very glad I made the transition to the bmw.
