[E91-330i-M-Sport]

Hi folks,

Firstly, quick apology as I seen this mentioned/asked before, but just need some guidance.
I’ve got a 2007 E91 with the base radio and CCC, when I bought the car I had big plans for the audio system with the plan to buy to Rockford speakers and a JL amp. Then add or make a custom sub enclosure in the boot.
I’ve bought the door pillar trims for tweeters and HiFi under seat speakers which I’ve already fitted to try to improve the bass.
I realised I’d end up spending a small fortune which I can’t really afford, the sort of thing I’d have done a few years ago without hesitation, but trying to have a little more self control these days.

Anyway, I love my music, and even the wife says the stereo is crap, which surprised me as sheÂ’s happy watching movies on an old iPad! So, ultimately I would like to make some improvements, but in a more wallet friendly manor.
I’ve found a L7 kit for a reasonable price that seems to include everything that’s required, although I think it’s for an E90 so I expect I’d probably have to extend some wiring which is easy enough, and I’ve done coding for a few other retrofits, so hopefully that won’t be a problem.
I thought, for now, I’d probably just replace all the speakers, and when the weather is better have a go at fitting the looms and amp etc.

I’ve not found any guides to this unofficial retrofit, so just wondering if there are any, or if people have any better suggestions.

Seems be a more popular way to go in Europe.
And aftermarket system will sound better if you get
the right stuff.

More difficult in that you do not have the holes for all
the speakers in the rear of the car.
Recoding needed.
More wiring to layout.
Not really any kits for this so get the whole loom as they
called it there.

Replacing the speaker's may not be such a good idea
until you can get more than head unit power to them .
the Front Doors and Floor's are wired in parallel.
One guy already tried putting L7 speakers in the front
and the system did not work after he put in the under seats.
We think it was because it was too much load to work
on just head unit power only.

Sorry brother not true. The logic 7 speakers have two pins on each woofer and the normal hifi speakers have 4 pins at the woofers allowing the signal to pass through. This is the only reason it did not work. It had nothing to do with the load.

I see, easy enough to by pass I guess.
Quick question, do the tweeters piggy back off the mids using an inline crossover or do they have their own feed? The latter would explain why there is so much wiring in the kit I’ve seen, as it appears to go to every door loom.

tweets in parallel with doors .
They have a capacitor inline that on the tweets in the Hi Fi
and the L7 I believe . That is what bmw calls a crossover.
Something similar in the base system but its for the front doors only
since there no tweets.
