wow

dude I watched that video and i think it changed my mind, at least for now. When i am confident that i can competently clean my car then maybe i'll think about one of them again. That was nasty.

They should've tested a touchless car wash too!

If you want to use it make sure that car is perfectly clean. Otherwise you will end up scratching the paitnt. I have been usung it for 2 years and never has a single swirl/scratch

I have one, but only use it for glass. Wouldn't dream of rubbing that thing on paint, no matter how clean I think it is.

I wouldn't use it for the paint either.

Remember when you dry your car, you're supposed to dab with the microfibre towel, not rub.

I rubbed my paint after washing, left a streak on my hood. This is my older car, my 04 Passat, but after that it went to the bathroom for the shower door. I'm never putting anything that isn't sheep or microfiber on my cars again!

Go with waffle weave microfibers for drying.

I really wish the handwash used towels to dry. Even if they didn't use clean/fresh towels (which they never do) because I was wondering what it would show for damage.

Was going to post the same video clip. I'd never use one of those on the paint.

I've used them to wash over 2000 cars at a previous job that I had, and not once had a complaint that I scratched the finish on a vehicle. You just have to make sure it's clean.

I bought one, then freaked out the first time I used it on black paint. Now it's used only to clean the shower door each morning.

Saw a guy using one on a classic Ferrari on some Discovery show.

Use it on glass only. Also, to aid drying, you know in the final rinse to take off the hose nozzle and just let the water flow freely out of the hose? That causes a bunch of water to slide off the car before you even touch it with a towel.

The thing with any product is if you don't know how to use it correctly you can damage the paint. I have used Griot's Ultimate Paint Squeegee for three years now. I use it on $20,000 cars to $120,000 cars. I have NEVER left a scratch on any car.

I also have the California squeegee and it sits in my shower to clean the shower doors. I would not let that product touch any car I clean. Day and night difference in the two products. Griot's is made from a closed cell foam.

Again if you don't know how to use a product, learn.

Those three dudes looked just like the three at the local car wash. didn't think they'd get that much distance travel out of waiting on the corner

Ok you've got my curiosity then. See, I'm thinking, how would you guarantee that the car is completely clean when using it? Do you use the ziplock bag over the car method to check if there's particles? Or do you clay everytime? I'm worried that if I use something like a Paint Squeegee I'd pick up some small particle that was left or that I didn't feel with the bag and it'll end up scratching the paint (or at least driving the particle deeper into the clear coat).

First off Andy M when I wash a car it is inside a garage. No chance of anything being blown on the car. If you use a squeegee correctly you will have a wall of water in front of it as you pull it across the paint. This wall of water will push any grit that might still be on the paint (if you still have dirt on the car after a good wash...you are not washing the car right) It works for me.
